Holy Saturday: a day where heaven seemed silent, where the promise felt buried with Him.
For those who loved Jesus, there was no clarity, no resolution, only grief, confusion, and the weight of what looked like defeat.
As Martin Luther often emphasized, this is the reality of faith in a fallen world: we are people who cling to God’s promises even when all visible evidence appears to contradict them.
They did not yet see victory - only a sealed tomb.
And yet, here we stand on the other side of the story.
We know what they did not that God was not absent in the silence, but working where no eye could see.
Holy Saturday reminds us that faith is not rooted in what is visible, but in the Word of God that holds firm even in darkness.
So we wait…not as those without hope, but as those who trust that resurrection is already on its way.
They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born, That He has done this.
