🐶 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐃𝐎𝐆 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐆𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐘! 🐶

To celebrate International Dog Day and reaching a milestone of photographing over 200 Wellington dogs, I am so excited to launch a giveaway as my way of giving back to our incredible local dog community!

Having this job is such an absolute privilege, and I love getting to meet so many gorgeous dogs and their lovely humans right across our region, so this celebration is all about honouring the pups who bring so much happiness into our lives every single day. ❤️

The grand prize winner will receive 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝟭𝟱𝘅𝟯𝟬" 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹-𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀, valued at $1795! This statement piece is crafted behind UV resistant glass with your choice of NZ hardwood frames, and with over ten custom montage templates to choose from, we will work together during your personalised design consultation at your image reveal to select the perfect layout and frame finish for your home decor. 🖼️

As I want to share the love as widely as possible, I am also offering some runner up prizes of a complimentary 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 and $𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁!

Every single dog is welcome to apply regardless of their age, breed, or training level, and whether your dog is bouncy, timid, or needs to stay safely on lead the whole time, my sessions are entirely relaxed and paced around keeping your pup happy as long as you are located in the Wellington region or able to travel here for your shoot.

Entries are open and close 5pm on 𝟮 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 with all winners and runner ups contacted on 3 September, so to enter your pup simply head to the link in the first comment below to complete the short form on my website with a photo of your dog and a little note about what makes them so special to you. 👇

I am so looking forward to seeing your entries and reading all about your amazing dogs! 💌

When Stella's session finally rolled around at Otari Wilton's Bush, the morning was so beautifully calm and quiet! Her mum originally won a Signature Session and three matted prints at the TopDog Film Festival last year, and it was such a joy to finally get together for their shoot. 🐾

For a three-year-old Schnauzer, Stella is amazingly calm and sweet! She was a little bit shy at first, but she was super happy just being right by her mum's side, and with a few tasty treats, she nailed every single pose with such ease. From stands and sits to the sweetest paws up, she was total perfection! Once we finished her relaxed portraits, we grabbed a stick (her favourite!) for a bit of fun and captured some gorgeous action shots of her happily sprinting around too. 😍

When it came time for her image reveal, her mum loved the finished images so much that she actually upgraded from three matted prints to four so she could give a couple to her daughter as well! Seeing these fine art keepsakes shared among family is easily one of my absolute favourite parts of this job! 🖼️

When Emmie and Chewie's morning session in Porirua rolled around, the soft cloudy light turned out to be absolute magic, and these two 'high-energy goofballs' were so eager to dive into everything! Emmie wanted to sniff every single leaf and Chewie happily trotted around carrying his trusty purple ring toy from spot to spot. Alongside their amazing and entertaining personalities, they completely blew me away with their modelling skills! 🤩

If you ever worry your own dogs might be a bit too hyper or excitable for a session, these two are such wonderful proof that with a handful of yummy treats, a few weird noises, and plenty of patience, any pup can settle into the sweetest sits, downs, and portrait poses. There's never any rush or pressure for them to perform, just be themselves, that's the whole point! 🥹

When another dog passed by near the end of our walk together, we simply stopped for a moment, kept the vibe super calm and positive, and actually turned that little distraction into some lovely shots of them gazing off into the distance.

I am especially excited as Emmie and Chewie are booked in for their second shoot next month, so I just had to share a couple of my absolute favourites from our last session alongside the lovely words their mum left! I can't wait to see these pups again! 🐾

I just got back from a long but completely amazing week in Christchurch for the NZ Iris Awards and NZIPP Photoshow Conference, and while the days were long, getting to sit through three days of live judging was such an incredible experience! I was so nervous waiting for the animal category to come up and hearing my images judged live, but I really couldn't have asked for better results!

It made for an extra overwhelming week because on the exact same day as the live Animal judging in Christchurch, I found out my results for the International Pet Photography Awards, and then my recent monthly results from the Guild of Photographers came through as well!

𝗡𝗭 𝗜𝗿𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀
• Seven Silver awards, one Silver with Distinction, and one Gold coming in at 92 points out of 100, which was the only Gold awarded across the entire Animal digital entries!
• Named one of the finalists for NZ Animal Professional Photographer of the Year as one of the top three in our homegrown competition, which feels so sweet because I usually focus on international awards!

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀
• All ten submitted images scored, taking home two Bronzes, two Bronzes with Distinction, two Silvers, one Silver with Distinction, and a Gold!
• Out of over 4,200 entries worldwide and only 28 Golds given across the whole competition, two of my images placed in the Top 100 alongside such mind blowing photographers!

𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
• Two Bronzes and two Silvers, which means an awful lot to me because Silvers are notoriously hard to achieve in the Guild, and one of those silver awards was for a portrait of my boy Fin!

Behind the scenes, so much love and effort goes into preparing these entries, and I spend countless hours fine tuning every single detail on each image because I am constantly competing with myself to try and outdo what I created the year before. Because it takes so much time to get a single image competition worthy, it just isn't feasible to enter all the wonderful client images I would love to, so I choose a small handful each year to do the annual rounds across different competitions before picking a fresh pot of images for the next year.

I am completely blown away by all of these results, and I am just so thankful to my amazing clients who trust me to photograph their gorgeous pups, as well as my boy Fin, who was meant to be officially retired from modelling duties by now but continues to be the bestest, most tolerant boy! A massive thank you to Lilly, Alfred, Cairo, Ry, Baxter, Norman, Blaze, Cookie, Elsie, Jiminy Cricket, and Heathrow for being such star, award winning models. 🏅

22/06/2026

Oh my goodness, the last twenty-four hours have been an absolute whirlwind of competition results and I am still pinching myself because I just found out that I received six silvers and one bronze in the first half of the 2026 WPE International Photography Awards. These results have actually placed me at 14th(!) in the global Top 100 Photographers leaderboard, which is the highest ranking I have ever managed to achieve in a single round. There are thousands of incredibly talented photographers entering from all over the world, in all genres of photography, in each of the three rounds every year, so to see my name sitting up there on the leaderboard is just the most surreal feeling!

And then on top of that, last night I also got the monthly results through from the Guild of Photographers where I received another silver award and a few bronzes too. It was especially special this time because my amazing pup Fin got the silver! I rarely enter images of Fin and Jake anymore as my clients always come first with editing these days, so it’s an extra special silver and from a magical foggy morning with the doggos.

Behind the scenes of these awards, there is so much work that goes on because every single one of these images goes through hours and hours of incredibly detailed editing. My wonderful clients might not spot the tiny differences at first glance (spot the difference for adults perhaps?!), but the competition versions are tweaked and refined in very specific ways to make sure I am meeting the criteria of the judges, and it typically takes weeks of preparation before I finally hit submit. I absolutely love the whole process because competition pushes me to keep learning and growing as a photographer, and because this prep takes so much time, I usually select a small handful of images to go into a special 'pot' for the whole awards season, which is why you might notice some of these photos carrying a few different badges from different awards.

There are always so many other beautiful doggos and sessions that I wish I could enter, but I want to say the biggest thank you to every single one of my amazing clients... Whether your pup has an award badge on their photo or not, you all trust me with your incredible dogs and allow me to push my creative boundaries every single day, and I am just so incredibly grateful to have the best job in the world!
