Huge mihi to everyone that has sent messages of support, signed the petition, shared a link to the film, offered waiata, prayer in solidarity with this growing movement. Kevin Fiadh Moran - Poet Shaman started the day strongly with a powerful interview on the TVNZ breakfast show continuing to amplify the voice of our wai in the national arena.

The feeling here on the ground is one of quiet unwavering determination, resolution and strength as we move towards delivering the petition to parliament around midday, emboldened by the spirit that drives this kaupapa forward and blessed by the tears of Ranginui that fall on the whenua here today in Te Upoko o te Ika a Maui. The whisper of the waters; the source of our determination.

Continue to spread the word, share the film, your voice and hold the vision of the highest outcome for our wai in your hearts, as this is merely a stepping stone in the riverine journey ahead.

Head to www.saveoursprings.nz to keep up to date, and make use of our portal which enables a streamlined process of constructing potent emails to our ministers.

Latest doco release : ‘Sam’s Creek; fast-track to Desecration’

(Link in bio 👆🏽)

Kia ora koutou; a big thank you to all who have signed the ‘Don’t fast track Te Waikoropupu’ petition. Together we are showing our determination to protect Te Waikoropupū Springs and Sam’s Creek from the desecration an arsenic mine would bring. While Siren Gold calls it a gold mine, many in the local community call it an arsenic mine because of the deadly threat posed to Mohua (Golden Bay).

We would be grateful if you would share the film far and wide. We want as many people as possible to know the story of Sam’s Creek. The word ‘desecration’ means sacrilege. A mine at Sam’s Creek would be a dreadful sacrilege of both Sam’s Creek and Papatūānuku. An arsenic mine would almost inevitably lead to the desecration of the taonga (treasure) Te Waikoropupū Springs.

Kevin Fiadh Moran - Poet Shaman and I hope this film will aid in protecting other special places in Aotearoa that are threatened by the fast-track legislation. Sam’s Creek is the story of a community mobilising to protect the natural world and nature's special places.

We would like to thank the research team here in Mohua for the scientific information contained in the film. We would also like to thank Greenpeace Aotearoa for their help in preparing the petition for delivery. The petition closes at 8 am Monday the 29th. Let's see if we can push it beyond 22,000. The ‘Sam’s Creek’ film is also available on our revamped website; www.saveoursprings.nz

I would like to invite people from the Wellington region and beyond to join us as we deliver the petition this coming Tuesday the 30th of July at 12.30 pm. We will begin gathering outside Parliament from noon onwards. The Waikoropupu Waiata will be sung (with permission from Ngāti Tama) during the handover. Please join us. Bring signs and placards if you can.

Meanwhile, spread the film far and wide e hoa mā and follow Save Our Springs - Te Waikoropupū for updates and info on the campaign as it becomes available.

Calling on everyone that calls Tākaka home to come and join us in solidarity for our wai this Sunday - Being Presence Centre as we present our follow up film to "The Unseen", "Sam's Creek - Fast-track to desecration" (working title) which focuses on the highly un-democratic process, that is; the proposed fast-track legislation, which enables foreign interests such as Siren Gold to play dangerous games with the legacy of our wai.

Two screenings scheduled to ensure as many of the community are able to participate.

Kevin Fiadh Moran - Poet Shaman of Save Our Springs - Te Waikoropupū, and I will be co-hosting and opening the space for any kōrero regarding the film, or campaign.

Online release to shortly follow.

Sunday 21st July -
1pm & 3pm

Kia ora e hoa mā 🍃

Have had some downtime over the last few weeks so I thought I would get a little clearer on my intentions with my mahi and how I would like to direct my energy for the year ahead, and beyond.

Part of this process was putting together a showreel and new website of my current work from the past few years which, in itself, has been an incredibly humbling experience. I am so grateful to be able to be a part of bringing these stories to life through my role as a Documentary flimaker, DOP and Video Editor.

To find myself in a vocation that not only aligns with my vision to create purpose driven content that seeks to preserve and showcase indigenous wisdom, knowledge but also feeds my passion for filmmaking is a dream come true.

Am sharing this to better communicate what my intentions are, and what type of work I would like to attract moving forward.

Looking for work and collaboration with Producers, Directors with a similar vision and/or to work with conscious businesses or social enterprises, projects who want to create story driven video content.

Link to my website is in my bio 🙏🏼

kāinga 🍃
----------------------------------------------------------------------
its can be really unexpected when you have the sense of coming home in a foreign land but that was exactly my experience whilst visiting caya shobo in the peruvian amazon late last year, the taonga received here under the guidance and wisdom of the shaman, facilitators here were many... my connection to aotearoa is stronger than ever today, due in part to time spent in close communion with the whenua here and feeling a strong call to connect to te ao māori. however, the call to return to the jungle is also strong and i feel that hikoi hasn't taken its full course. am forever grateful to have been given the means to continue that journey, and to also have been given the opportunity/responsibility to tell the story (in documentary form) of the ancient healing, wisdom traditions of the ātaahua shipibo peoples and those involved with bringing them to those who need them most. the respect and acknowledgement of the inherent wisdom, intelligence of nature is at the forefront of their culture - which not only resonates strongly with māori principles of being, but my own. the more i connect with papatūānuku the more driven i am to do all i can to ensure her safe passage into the future. the form of that mana, or action is shifting and i feel this journey will give me more clarity on my path going forward 🙏🏼
