Erave community appeal for Justice to prevail for loss of their son from Western Highlands Leaders
*DATE: 20/04/2026*
*Subject: Appeal for Justice and Peace Regarding the Death of Late Joshua Penny*
To the respected Leaders and People of Western Highlands Province,
We, the Erave community, are in deep mourning following the tragic loss of our young man, the late Joshua Penny. His life was cut short under violent circumstances allegedly involving men from Hagen/Western Highlands.
The pain of losing Joshua is felt by his family, friends, and our entire community. He was a son, a brother, a friend — a young man with his whole life ahead of him.
He is one of our elites who worked at Tingia Hagen, and lived there.
We are voicing our grief and our call to you as leaders and neighbors:
1. *We ask for peace*: Violence between our communities only brings more loss. We do not want retaliation. We want this cycle to stop.
2. *We ask for accountability*: We appeal to Western Highlands leaders, elders, and law enforcement to assist in ensuring this matter is investigated properly and that those responsible face justice under the law.
3. *We ask for leadership*: As leaders, your voice can calm tensions and guide young men away from violence. We ask you to stand with us to condemn this killing and promote peace between our people.
4. *We ask for dialogue*: Our communities have to live together. Let us talk as leaders and elders to make sure no other family goes through this pain.
The life of Joshua Penny mattered. No family should bury their young. We appeal to your sense of justice, culture, and shared humanity to help us find a peaceful and lawful resolution.
We extend our hand not for conflict, but for justice and lasting peace between our communities.
