The Story Behind the Axe on the K2 Note 🪓🇵🇬

The axe on the K2.00 note is more than just a picture.

Many people believe the stone axe came from a traditional stone axe mine in Jiwaka. The wooden handle was also made in Jiwaka, and the axe was sharpened at another traditional site in the province.
For the people of Jiwaka, the stone axe is an important part of their history and culture. It represents the skills, traditions, and heritage passed down from generation to generation.

Hon. Wake Goi Appointed Minister for Commerce and Industry

Former Minister for Civil Aviation and Member for Jimi, Hon. Wake Goi, MP, has been appointed as the new Minister for Commerce and Industry following the recent Cabinet reshuffle.

Hon. Wake Goi has served Papua New Guinea in several leadership roles, including as Minister for Civil Aviation. His experience in government is expected to help him in his new ministry.
