๐ข ATTENTION: FB PNG FAMILY ๐ต๐ฌ ๐
โLately, weโve seen an increase in FAKE ACCOUNTS sending "dirty" videos, photos, and making lewd video calls. This isn't just "online fun"โitโs a SERIOUS CRIME under the laws of Papua New Guinea. โ๏ธ
โIf you are one of the people behind these accounts, take note: The Cybercrime Code Act 2016 is watching you. ๐๏ธโ๐จ๏ธ
โTHE FACTS:
โ Cyber Harassment (Section 23): Sending offensive material to annoy or distress someone.
๐ Penalty: Up to K15,000 fine or 10 years in prison. ๐
โโ Po*******hy (Section 17): Distributing explicit content via electronic systems.
๐ Penalty: Up to K25,000 fine or 15 years in prison. ๐ฎโโ๏ธ
โโ Identity Theft (Section 15): Using fake names or other peopleโs photos to hide.
๐ Penalty: Up to K15,000 fine or 10 years in prison. ๐ซ
โTHINK TWICE BEFORE YOU ACT:
You might think a fake profile hides you, but NICTA is the authority that can trace you down. In PNG, all SIM cards are registered. Whoever's name that SIM card is under WILL be held accountable. ๐ฑ
โThe majority of us use our phones to access Facebook. With Digicel and other providers involved, your IP address will be tracked down and your phone number identified. There is nowhere to hide. ๐๐ก
โWHAT TO DO IF THEY TARGET YOU:
1๏ธโฃ DO NOT RESPOND: Don't give them the attention they want. ๐ค
2๏ธโฃ SCREENSHOT EVERYTHING: Save the profile link and messages as evidence. ๐ธ
3๏ธโฃ REPORT & BLOCK: Use the Facebook report button AND report to the RPNGC Cybercrime Unit & NICTA. ๐
