PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

A total of 351 cocoa samples from various cooperatives and individual farmers have been successfully tasted and evaluated by Queen Emma Chocolate Factory and Paradise Foods Limited, Port Moresby.

This evaluation is part of the upcoming Greater Sepik Cocoa of Excellence Trade & Expo 2026, scheduled to take place on 21st, 22nd, and 23rd at Michael Tomas Stadium, Wewak, East Sepik Province.

We thank all participating farmers and cooperatives for their contributions and commitment to quality cocoa production. We look forward to celebrating excellence in the cocoa industry at this important event.

Saturday 28th February 2026

The East Sepik Provincial Police Command has confirmed that at approximately 11:00pm last night, more than 50 youths from surrounding communities unlawfully entered Boram Airport following the burial of a deceased gang leader.

An aircraft operated by Air Niugini that was parked on the tarmac at the time of the incident was not damaged.

Provincial Police Commander for East Sepik, Superintendent Christopher Tamari, said that based on advice received from ANG Security in Port Moresby, all flights to and from Wewak have been suspended until further notice as a precautionary measure.

PPC Tamari strongly condemned the unlawful actions of those involved and confirmed that reinforcements are being mobilised to recover any stolen property and apprehend the suspects. He further stated that police have already identified several individuals believed to have been involved and will ensure they are arrested and face the full force of the law.

He assured the public that police are treating the matter with urgency and priority. Decisive action will be taken to restore public confidence, maintain safety and security, and reassure key stakeholders and the people of East Sepik Province.
