It was a game that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final out. Antique barely edged Capiz in a thrilling 10-9 softball showdown, proving that in sports, it’s never over until it’s over. Both teams brought their A-game, with every swing and every pitch building the tension as the game wore on.

Capiz held its ground with some incredible defense, refusing to let Antique dominate. But in the end, it was Antique’s offense that made the difference, with timely hits and a rally in the final inning that sealed the deal.

Antique’s hard-fought win showcased their tenacity, while Capiz can walk away proud of their effort, knowing they pushed their opponents to the limit in a game to remember.

Swinging for Glory: Col. Ruperto Abellon Softball Squad Shows Grit in WVRAA Opener

The Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet 2025 is officially underway in Antique, bringing together over 2,970 athletes from Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental. The competition, which runs from March 3 to 7, is a battleground for young talents vying for regional supremacy and a shot at the Palarong Pambansa.

Amid the fierce competition, the Col. Ruperto Abellon National School’s softball team stepped onto the diamond with heart and determination. Facing a tough opponent in their opening match, the team fought hard, displaying remarkable resilience and skill. Every swing, sprint, and dive showcased their dedication not just to the game but to the pride of their school.

Though the scoreboard may not always reflect the effort, their performance spoke volumes about their passion and fighting spirit. With lessons learned from their first game, the team is gearing up for the battles ahead, ready to adjust their strategy and push even harder. Their grit and sportsmanship continue to inspire, proving that win or lose, they are here to leave it all on the field.
