Random realization while checking camera rentals in Korea:
Rentals here seem around 2 to 3 times cheaper than what I usually see in the PH.
I saw an Alexa Mini LF full set with Supreme lenses listed at around β±35k for 24 hours, and an FX6 at around β±3k for 24 hours. and the crazy part is you can just pick it up 24H without a care taker.
Makes me realize why even small prods here can look high budget. When better gear is easier to rent, production value becomes easier to push.
A factor is probably a result of their whole film ecosystem, and government support is part of that ecosystem. Korea does have strong industry support through the Korean Film Council
More demand, because Korea has a very active film scene. More supply and faster gear turnover, because rental shops can keep cameras working more often, so they can charge lower daily rates and still make money.
