The water was never my friend—until I decided it could be. 💧💙
This year, I did something unexpected. My son started swimming lessons, and instead of just watching from the sidelines, I signed up too.
At first? Total awkwardness. Me, a grown adult, relearning what my body could do. Swimming felt like a language I'd never spoken—arms and legs out of sync, breath always half a second behind. But I kept showing up. Week after week, the water started to feel less like a stranger and more like a challenge I could actually meet.
Now, months later, my son's preparing for his first competition. And me? I'm in advanced lessons. Advanced. If you'd told me that last year, I'd have laughed. But here we are—both of us, stronger than we thought.
We're not doing this to be perfect. We're doing this because we want to be better—for ourselves, and for each other.
This wasn't just about swimming. It was about realizing how much we limit ourselves without even trying. How "I'm not a swimmer" (or artist, or runner, or anything else) is often just fear in a convincing disguise. It was about proving that discomfort doesn't mean failure. It just means you're learning. ✨
So if you're a mom, or just someone looking to try something new, I hope this reminds you: it's never too late.
This is my promise to myself: I'll keep going. Not just this summer, but for many seasons more. Because this? This is just our first chapter. The water's still open, and the story's just getting good.🏊♀️🌊
I'd love for you to be part of it—or better yet, to start writing your own. 📝
