And that’s a wrap—our home team, Team Alapan Primero, has officially concluded their campaign at the 4th Congressman AJ Cup Inter-Mother Barangay Basketball Tournament.

From Dars Photography, I would like to sincerely thank the entire Alapan Primero team for trusting me with the opportunity to follow and document your journey—from the intensity of the tryouts all the way to the final buzzer of your last game.

To the committee, organizers, and league heads, thank you for another season that gave our community a platform to showcase its talent and love for the game. Wishing everyone continued success, especially as the championship day approaches.

Special thanks to our coaches, 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻 and 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗝𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗹𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘀, for your guidance and leadership throughout the season. To the SK Chairpersons of Barangay Alapan 1, especially 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗟𝗲𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀 and 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗪𝗲𝗻𝘇 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, thank you for recognizing and supporting my craft and for allowing me to be part of this journey. Appreciation as well to Barangay representatives and the committee behind the team, especially 𝗠𝗿. 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘀, for the consistent support in updates, coordination, and logistics.

To the players—my “Baka Idol Ko ’Yan” idols—and most especially to my 𝗜𝗱𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘀, thank you for the heart, discipline, and passion you showed every time you stepped on the court. You all embodied what it truly means to dedicate yourself to the game and give everything until the very end. 🫡

To the supporters of the team—whether you watched live, engaged through comments, or supported through shares, photos, and posters on our social media platforms—your presence mattered. Through every praise, critique, and word of encouragement, you became part of this journey as well.

And above all, gratitude to 𝗚𝗼𝗱 for guidance, protection, and strength throughout the past weeks—keeping everyone safe, healthy, and able to compete and finish the season strong. 🫶

This experience stands as another meaningful milestone for me, for my craft, and for our community. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗼—𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲. 😊📷

He showed up, believed, delivered, and gave everything he had on the court.

Our Idol of the Year, Joshua Lirone Alquizalas of our home team, Team Alapan Primero, dropped a staggering 36 points in their recent matchup against our brothers from Team Buhay na Tubig in the 4th Congressman AJ Cup Inter-Mother Barangay Basketball Tournament.

Joshua, continue playing with the same heart, passion, and determination that inspire many young players and supporters of the game. Win or lose, true character is always seen in how a player fights until the final buzzer. 🫡

The matchup concluded with a final score of Alapan Primero – 101 and Buhay na Tubig – 120. Respect to both sides for leaving everything on the floor and proudly carrying the name of their respective barangays.

This 2026, one of the leagues I’m truly looking forward to is the return of the Congressman AJ Cup Inter-Mother Barangay Basketball Tournament. Aside from supporting our home team, Alapan Primero, I’m also excited to once again see familiar faces I’ve watched in previous seasons — and among the players who continue to draw attention for me is Axel Xandler Montesclaros.

Axel currently suits up for Team Bayan Luma in this tournament, and this marks the second season where I’ve had the chance to watch him compete. While I may not have seen all of his games personally, every time I did get the opportunity to watch him play, his presence on the court was always noticeable. His ability to score, create momentum, and confidently take big shots naturally stands out, yet he still carries himself with composure and control throughout the game. With his tall and athletic frame combined with impressive mobility, he moves fluidly on the court and uses his length effectively both in creating offense and finishing plays.

One moment that still stands out to me was his memorable overtime shot last season — a play that reflected not only skill, but also calmness and confidence under pressure during crucial moments of the game. From what I’ve personally observed during games and through the recognition he receives within the local basketball scene, it’s evident that he continues to build a solid reputation through experience, consistency, and dedication to the sport. Given his physical tools, skillset, and growing experience, Axel clearly possesses the potential to keep elevating his game even further in the coming years.

Having Axel included in the roster of idols also gives me the opportunity to appreciate his journey and witness more of his growth as a player moving forward. Even from the short time I’ve followed his basketball journey, it’s already clear that he has made a strong impression in the leagues he has participated in. Through continuous hard work, discipline, and passion for the game, he continues to earn respect within the basketball community while inspiring younger athletes who share the same love for the sport.
