The 2026 Lakers Basketball League introduced me to a new wave of talented players, especially in its seniors division, where every team showcased athletes capable of making an impact. Among those who left a lasting impression on me was Rovic Mallari. While Rovic wasn't entirely new to me—I had seen him play in previous years—it was this season, wearing the colors of Team Bagets, that he truly captured my attention. Every time I covered their games, he consistently displayed a level of confidence, energy, and skill that made him one of the league's most exciting players to watch.
Playing as a slasher and shooting guard, Rovic thrives on attacking the basket with speed, creating scoring opportunities through quick drives, and capitalizing on open looks from the perimeter. The role demands explosiveness, agility, and the confidence to challenge defenders, and those qualities perfectly complement his lean frame. His quick first step, relentless pace, and fearless approach allowed him to put constant pressure on opposing defenses, while his ability to move without the ball made him an important offensive weapon for Team Bagets throughout the tournament.
Rovic's individual brilliance was matched by the chemistry and determination of the entire Team Bagets squad. Together, they fought their way to the championship, with Rovic playing a pivotal role in their title run. His outstanding performances during the biggest moments of the season earned him the Finals MVP award, a recognition that reflected not only his scoring ability but also his consistency and impact on both ends of the floor. It was a fitting reward for a player who delivered whenever his team needed him most.
Including Rovic in our roster of Idols gives me the opportunity to witness more of his game every time he steps onto the court. Surrounded by teammates who share the same passion and competitive spirit, his confidence continues to grow, allowing his talent to shine even brighter. With his speed and ability to create exciting moments on the floor, it's easy to see why he stands out as one of the most promising players I've had the privilege of covering, and I'm looking forward to seeing even more from him in the seasons ahead.
