First ride of 2026, and it's literally a chill ride with one of the coldest weekends in Cebu in recent memory. 🥶 Had a coffee stop at Barkista in Asturias before heading back home.

I miss riding. 😆 While this was not my last ride in 2025, this was the last time a street photographer caught me along the TCH, all the way back in August. Thanks, Motoiconic! (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61576287133791).

Last actual ride was in September. Quake and typhoons followed, destroying my regular route. I still used my bikes for short city jaunts, but haven't gone on a long ride on my favorite roads since then. Hopefully I can get some ride time early this year and generally more time to enjoy life in 2026.

Just enjoying a night ride in my own lane when a decides it's his lane instead, for no reason at all. Full disclosure: this happened end of last year, but the point still stands. Always be cautious around V-hires, especially UV Express, which has the most undisciplined drivers.

Driving the point home about rider safety: Earlier this year when Nissan Navara willingly put three people at risk -- me as well as a father and child on another motorcycle -- because reasons. This is what I mean when I say that you can be the safest rider in the world, but you won't be spared from other motorists' stupidity.

Dress for the slide, not for the ride.

If you can afford a bike, you can afford protective riding gear. Trust someone who's walked away from a scrape because of it. It doesn't have to be expensive. And you'll look and feel better.
