It's almost the NEW YEAR of 2026.

We would like to celebrate it with our new product : Tsubaki Mochi or Camellia Mochi

🏡 Camellia Mochi / Tsubaki Mochi
- are soft , chewy, sweet glutinous rice cake that has been pounded and molded into the shape of a camellia flower. The rice cake is topped with a yuzu-flavored white bean portion that has been shaped to resemble the camellia flower's stamen.
Inside the soft & chewy rice cake is a ball of sweetened & coarse red bean paste, located at the center.

🏡 Our camellia mochi comes in 2 different flavors. The 1st is white chocolate with a sweet red bean paste center and the 2nd is red rasberry with a sweet red bean paste center.

🏡 In Japanese culture, the camellia (tsubaki) symbolizes strength, grace, love, and the samurai spirit, admired for its beauty and dignified fall (petals drop as one, like a warrior's noble death).
Red camellias mean love and bravery, white purity (or mourning), pink longing, and the flower represents perfection, resilience, and inner beauty against winter's harshness.

🏡 In Japanese Tea Ceremonies, camellias are a quintessential flower for winter tea ceremonies.

Jade Studio Wagashi Series :
Yomogi Mochi / Kusa mochi / Herb Mochi

- Kusa mochi (草逅) is one of the Japanese sweets also known as β€œkusamochi or yomogi mochi (蓬逅).” It is made using mochi and yomogi (known as Japanese mugwort) leaves. In fact, this Kusa Mochi is the Yomogi Mochi kneaded with Japanese mugwort leaves from the Shinshu region around Nagano Prefecture. Kusa mochi is a vibrant green color due to the use of Japanese mugwort in the mochi.

The amount of Japanese mugwort in the mochi determines how green it is. Japanese also used this as a medical diet. It is a rice cake mixed with boiled mugwort leaves and they sometimes fill the rice cakes with bean paste.

Our Studio-exclusive Herb Mochi or Yomogi
Mochi , has a soft & chewy mochi exterior that has been infused with Japanese mugwort, and contains a sweet red bean paste filling. It is then dusted with a light amount of powdered sugar

- Ajisaji / Hydrangea / Million Flower

πŸ’  Hydrangea wagashi, known as "Ajisai" in Japanese, is a traditional sweet featuring a hydrangea flower motif, often made with agar (kanten) and white bean paste. The agar is used to create a jelly-like layer, sometimes colored, that encases or surrounds the bean paste. This confectionery is a popular summer treat, reflecting the beauty of hydrangeas in full bloom.

πŸ’  In Japanese culture, hydrangeas, known as "ajisai", symbolize heartfelt emotion, gratitude, and apology.
This symbolism is rooted in a legend about a Japanese emperor who gave hydrangeas to the family of a woman he loved as an apology for neglecting her.
The changing colors of hydrangeas, influenced by soil acidity, are also seen as a reflection of the ever-changing nature of emotions.

Jade Studio Wagashi Series :

Minazuki / Month of Water

- a traditional Japanese wagashi (ε’Œθ“ε), or confection, specifically enjoyed in Kyoto on June 30th to mark the halfway point of the year and to ward off misfortune.

πŸ”Ό It's a type of uiro (ういろう), a steamed cake made from rice flour, often cut into triangles and topped with sweet azuki beans.

πŸ”Ό The name "Minazuki" literally means "month of water" and is associated with the rainy season in Japan, although it is eaten on June 30th.

πŸ”Ό In the Heian period, commoners in Kyoto ate Minazuki to refresh themselves during the hot summer months, while the Imperial Court had access to ice.

πŸ”Ό The custom of eating Minazuki on June 30th is linked to the Shinto ritual called "Nagoshi no Harae," which is performed to purify oneself of impurities and misfortunes from the first half of the year.
