Standing on the Shin-Osaka platform, just moments before the 515km blur to Tokyo begins. There’s something electric about the anticipation here.

Short Trivia: When the Tokaido Shinkansen first opened in 1964 (right before the Tokyo Olympics), it was the world's first high-speed rail line. Before then, the journey took nearly 7 hours; today, it’s about two and a half. 🚅💨✨

Two days later, and I’m still thinking about this detour.
A typhoon canceled our flight, and running on zero sleep, we scrambled for the nearest bed. We ended up dropped right into rural Japan—just quiet farm fields on one side and an old cemetery on the other.

The sky was moody, the air was heavy, and the whole vibe was surreal. Not the plan, but I wouldn't trade these frames for anything.

Funny how the best shots happen when the itinerary completely falls apart. 🌾🏯

THAT FIRST LOOK.

It’s the exact second where years of worrying turn into a deep breath of relief.

A few frames from the recent Operation Smile Philippines in partnership with HOPE Volunteers Foundation, Inc. mission here in Bacolod, where almost a hundred lives—and smiles—were completely transformed. Immensely grateful to witness and document this kind of hope firsthand.
