𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 | 𝗡𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲
As a true constellation of hope, united by one mission, Catholic Educators from Region 1 and Abra gathered together to lend their ears to fill their hearts and minds to different thoughtful speakers during 𝑪𝑬𝑨𝑷 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒍𝒚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.
The word “𝒜𝑔𝑔𝒾ℴ𝓇𝓃𝒶𝓂ℯ𝓃𝓉ℴ” from the message of 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐯. 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐏. 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐮𝐠𝐛𝐚, 𝐃𝐃, was highlighted which meant of making the story of Jesus relevant today. He stressed that newness of the Vatican II is about returning to the original source of Christian faith through restoration and renewal. Most. Rev. Renato gave us a better understanding on how technology should serve as a tool for evangelization and enriching our knowledge. On top of that, Most. Rev. Renato emphasized that newness also includes reading the signs of today’s social and environmental challenges through discernment.
Serving as a call to understand that renewal directs to transformation. By preaching the message of Jesus with technology as a tool, we can effectively introduce Christian faith to youth and allow engagement to present societal and environmental conflicts.
Afterwards, 𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐂. 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐢𝐬, centered her speech on the importance of grounding education in values and integrity, for intelligence alone is not enough. As catholic educational institutions helped shaped generations of filipinos become leaders guided by faith, with a commitment to serve common good for more than four centuries.
According to her, the Philippines does not lack intelligent and talented people, and we must have competence matched by integrity, leadership driven by service, and garner success anchored in ethics.
She reminded to take care of education as we believe it is a major pillar in transforming our beloved country. The real challenge is to fulfill the mission of Catholic Education: Forming capable graduates who knows how to choose what is right and competent, and individuals of character.
To further inspire the educators, 𝐂𝐄𝐀𝐏 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐅𝐫. 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥 𝐒. 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐚𝐧 , 𝐒𝐉, delivered how collaboration builds a stronger foundation for uplifting hope, responding to the needs of our society. As he said, the essence of being in a constellation is uniting as one even on different terms of themes and orientations. Our stars shine brigher as a constellation, always centered in the star brighter than the sun, Jesus Christ.
While remaining firmly rooted in scripture and church teachings, Fr. San Juan used the four classical elements–Earth, Air, Water, and Fire–each with different characteristics that corresponds to the values that Catholic educators should embody. He stated that individual talents become more meaningful when unity ignites towards a common a purpose.
In regards to the CEAP National Report, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐍𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐅. 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨, the 𝑪𝑬𝑨𝑷 𝑬𝒙𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑫𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓 significantly reflected the CEAP’s commitment to strengthening Philippines Catholic School Standards, encouraging Catholic schools to remain tied, assuring continous service as their advocate and partner in fulfilling their shared mission. By their countless advocacies, they were able to strengthen various values. He also highlighted the importance of supporting mission schools that serve marginalized communities.
Through collaborative efforts with DepEd, CHED, TESDA, and the Congress, they helped shaped the national education reforms. Mr. Dionisio also summoned the expansion of their collaboration with large institutions like COCOPEA to provide 18 unit certificates in religious education for teachers, And Rex Education, and paved way to the launching of the IMPACT program and granted condonation of membership dues for financially strugling mission schools.
Furthermore, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐨 educated educators on safe learning environments. He simply explained that children are not able to learn where they are afraid, and teachers cannot inspire when they are exhausted.
In order for learners and teachers to perfom better, he exclaimed that schools should be guided with the Catholic Perspectives: 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦, 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵, 𝘔𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘺, 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦, and 𝘏𝘰𝘱𝘦, alongside with the pillars of safe and enabling schools, namely Safe infrastuctures, relationships, leadership, learning, and wellbeing. Dr. Dennis Germano also presented the 𝘚.𝘈.𝘍.𝘌. 𝘊𝘌𝘈𝘗 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘯 1 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘯, where its mission is to create safe schools within a hundred and eighty days.
On Dr. Germano’s second session, he focused on the wellbeing of teachers, where he addressed burnout and systemic pressure. He stated that teachers shape lives, thus their mental health must also be protected, given that educators should not have enthusiasm that becomes fatigue, passion that becomes obligation, and creativity that becomes survival.
All the while, 𝐂𝐄𝐀𝐏 as an organization, reinforced its foundation to provide a meticulously integrated education for a more colorful future for the learners, and continues to serve as a guide to better education.
