Legislator Challenges Senator to Face International Court Charges
The Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, a legislator representing the Mamamayang Liberal party-list, has publicly challenged Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa regarding the lawsuit filed against him at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The representative argued that the Senator should not expect the protection of legislative immunity typically granted to members of Congress. According to her, the grave nature of the accusations—specifically citing **"crimes against humanity"**—means the charges fall outside the scope of such protections.
"The case against Senator Dela Rosa involves crimes against humanity; these are very grave offenses," the lawmaker stated. "How can that be justified under the immunity accorded to members of Congress while it's in session?"
She further asserted that the Senator must stop avoiding the matter and instead directly address the charges.
"The best course of action is for him to simply surrender. What's the problem? I thought he was brave? The issue with them is they are all talk... **Be man enough to face, confront your charges, right?**" she concluded.
