Abi-Abihang Ginto
A Celebration of Antipolo’s Golden Abundance
Inspired by the enduring spirit of Antipolo, Abi-Abihang Ginto is a tribute to a community whose identity is woven through generosity, craftsmanship, and agricultural abundance. Long celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and beloved local delicacies, Antipolo becomes the heart of this ceremonial work.
The costume draws its inspiration from three of the city’s most iconic treasures—suman, mangoes, and cashews—reimagined through contemporary Filipino couture. At its center stands a young man carrying a handcrafted basket filled with these symbols of abundance, offering them with quiet dignity. More than a gesture, it embodies the warmth, hospitality, and generosity that define every Antipoleño.
A luminous palette of harvest gold, warm yellow, and soft champagne reflects the joy and prosperity associated with the city’s traditions. Intricately layered textiles, embroidery, beadwork, and woven elements echo the textures of Antipolo’s treasured delicacies, transforming familiar forms into refined expressions of cultural artistry.
Completing the ensemble is a meticulously crafted beaded salakot, where traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary elegance. Catching the light with quiet brilliance, it crowns the composition as a symbol of heritage elevated through design.
Abi-Abihang Ginto is not merely a costume—it is a visual offering. It celebrates the richness of Filipino craftsmanship, the beauty of agricultural heritage, and the enduring generosity of the Antipoleño spirit, presenting tradition through the language of modern couture while remaining deeply rooted in its cultural origins.
