ANO ANG MGA HINDI MO MALILIMUTANG KARANASAN SA PAGPUNTA SA BINONDO?

Tara! Punta tayo sa pinakalumang Chinatown sa daigdig, ang Binondo, kung saan makikita ang sentro ng pananampalataya ng mga Katolikong Kristyano na Filipino-Chinese - ang Binondo Church o Minor Basilica and National Shrine of San Lorenzo Ruiz. Ito ang aking iginuhit na larawan ng simbahan ng Binondo na mula sa isang lumang litrato noong 1850s tampok ang Baroque architecture. Dito rin nagsilbi bilang sakristan ang kauna-unahang Santong Pilipino na si San Lorenzo Ruiz.

PAINTING FOR SALE (Framing will be modified during a successful deal. Send me a private message for details of selling this artwork.)

Ito ang isa sa mga gusto kong puntahan noong bata ako dahil napanood natin ang millennium coverage na ipinalabas sa buong mundo noong Disyembre 31, 1999 hanggang Enero 1, 2000. Pagkalipas ng 24 taon, nasilayan ko siya nang personal at nanumbalik ang aking childhood memory sa lugar na ito.

Bilang paggunita sa National Heritage Month, balikan natin ang mga naiwang pamana ng aitng mga ninuno, lalo na sa mga katulad kong Pilipino na may dugong Tsino. Ito ang itsura ng Binondo noong 1800s batay sa mga archive na nakuha ng mga archivist. Kapansin-pansin na may bakod ang Minor Basilica and National Shrine of San Lorenzo Ruiz o mas kilala bilang Binondo Church at iba ang itsura ng kanyang bell tower. Wala rin ang fountain at mga bato sa Plaza Calderon (kasalukuyang Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz). Ginawa ko ang artwork na ito gamit ang watercolor, black ink at lapis.

Pagkalipas ng isang taon at apat na buwan, we made it!

Isa ito sa mga gusto kong ipinta dahil naging bahagi ito ng mga alaala ng pagiging bata, lalo na sa taong 2000. More info about this painting tomorrow dito sa Guhit ni Dico!

Ito ang unang disenyo ng William A. Jones Memorial Bridge (o mas kilala bilang Jones Bridge) na unang dinesenyo ng batikang arkitekto na si Juan Arellano sa anyong neo-classical na may mga istatwa at mga palamuting nakalagay dito (kasama ang pamosong "La Madre Filipina" na nakalagak sa magkabilang dulong bahagi ng tulay). Sa kasalukuyan, isang girder-style na tulay ang nakatayo dahil nasira ang orihinal na tulay noong panahon ng pananakop ng mga Hapon sa bansa.
