It has been a month since I moved to Japan.

I’m grateful and proud of myself for surviving it on my own. But honestly, I can’t help but feel a little sad because it also means it has been a month since I’ve been away from the people I love back home. I know this moment would have been so much better if I could celebrate it with them.

Taking a trip to Japan is fun, but living here is an entirely different experience.

This sadness will probably never completely go away. I’ll just learn how to put it on a shelf and carry on. But while I’m here, I’ll do my best to make sure that all the sacrifices will be worth it.
