WITH SEC. BANOY OF DOTR | The first time I met Secretary Banoy Lopez of the Department of Transportation as a sitting member of the House of Representatives was around the same time last year when he was Undersecretary of the Department with Sec Vince as the DoTr head.

Since Sec. Vince was called to attend to a private meeting with several House leaders, it was then Usec. Banoy who accommodated me as I presented various concerns for my district in relation to the transport sector.

A year hence, I approached Sec. Banoy to personally thank him on the progress we achieved since then.

FIXING THE BSK TERM | I am excited to announce that our measure HB No. 10971 which fixes the Barangay Officials and Sangguniang Kabataan Officials term to Five (5) Years: with three (3) Terms for Barangay Officials; and one (1) for SK Officials has been passed in Third and Final Reading in the House of Representatives.

This is a curative law amending the existing four-year term and allowing continuity for community service provision.

AT THE SANGKAAN FESTIVAL | Hon. Ayec T. Pimentel takes part in the 14th Sangkaan Festival hosted by Tandag City. Boasting its ethnic mardi gras September festivities, it showcases pre-colonial culture and tradition through dance and artistic expressions.

WITH SEC CONRAD | When Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrad Estrella visited the House of the People, 2nd District of Surigao del Sur Congressman Hon. Ayec T. Pimentel engaged in a fruitful exchange on agrarian reform policies relevant to his district and province.

With this, we are expecting a stronger and more vigorous partnership with DAR for Surigao del Sur.

RETURNING TO OUR ROOTS | As Mayor Roxanne Pimentel celebrates her birthday this year, she took the time to spend the special day with our Indigenous People – the Mamanwa tribe – in Sitio Hitaub, Barangay Awasian in Tandag City.

This is among the most meaningful celebration she made allowing us to reflect and spend time with our brethren rooted in our lands.

WITH CAPTAIN SANTINO | Glad to be at home this weekend to visit my family after the long week’s tour of duty in Congress. I’m even more elated to see my grandson Santino donned in his military outfit and aviator shades playing his boyish games.
