Hinding-hindi ako makukumbinsi ng right-winged conservative folks na tunay silang pro-life because everything they say only further proves na pro-birth lang sila.
Wala pa akong nakikita, naririnig, o nababasang statements from "pro-life" folks that tackle the life of a child and their parent/s after childbirth. For the longest time that I've been here on social media and talking to people outside, ang lagi ko lang naririnig na argument ay "abortion is murder," but nobody talks about how hard it is to raise a child in the Philippines.
How about the hospital bills? The mental state of the mother after delivery? The basic needs of the child? Have you ever considered how unforgiving life in the Philippines is before saying such insensitive statements?
How about the r**e victims? The victims of s*xual abuse/harassment from their own family—lalo na 'yung mga menor de edad? Do you have the guts to tell a r**e victim to keep the child because apparently, it is a "gift from God"? Na it's better to put their lives at risk than to disobey your interpretation of God and His commandments?
Do you really care about life? Or do you just want to impose your beliefs sa iba?
Does the decision whether to keep the baby or abort it rest in your hands, when you aren't even the victim? Hindi naman kayo ang magdadala ng bata for 9 months? Hindi rin naman kayo ang mahihirapan maglakad ng papeles for the hospital bills? Hindi naman kayo ang mahihirapang magpalaki at magpaaral sa bata?
Even this community support that you speak of is not enough and will never be enough to properly raise a child because of the harsh living conditions in the Philippines. You oppose comprehensive s*x education, responsible family planning, vaccination—you oppose all scientific concepts that challenge your faith.
Only when every Filipino can live life with dignity can we truly aim to be pro-life.
Dahil whether you like it or not, people will still get abortion; and legalizing it will only make it safer for women and couples to get one. Just because you don't want it doesn't mean others shouldn't have it, too.
Your beliefs should not be a life sentence for other people.
