Bravery That Sees No Boundaries

Major Jerome Jacuba is a Filipino soldier in the Philippine Army known for his courage, sacrifice, and inspiring story of resilience after a life-changing injury.

He was serving as a young officer during a combat operation in Maguindanao in 2016 when he stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED). The explosion caused him to lose his eyesight permanently.

Despite this, he remained committed to serving the country. His story gained national attention when he faced possible discharge from the military due to his disability. Instead, he was later reinstated and promoted to the rank of Major in recognition of his service, sacrifice, and experience.

What makes Maj. Jacuba inspiring is not just his bravery in combat, but his mindset after losing his vision. He continues to show that even with a disability, a person can still live with purpose, serve others, and remain strong in faith and duty.
