Today is a BIG day at J & J Farm as we get ready to celebrate Joy & Joe's birthday.

I am guessing 150 plus from the Brgy and surrounding area will be showing up to the "Fiesta".

This is a team effort putting the event together (I have an easy job, stay out of the way).

The best news is inside of the house (painting, counters) is completed and presentable. Our workers did a great job.

Our walls have been skim coated and primed and will be painted tomorrow (fingers crossed).

The smell of the primer is overwhelming - no need for our workers to drink coconut wine after a day sucking in those fumes. I am not sure what they put in the primer but dang, it is a powerful stench.

Once painted we will put in our oven and unbox our new refrigerator.

The next step will be sitting down with our cabinet maker to design and build hanging and under counter cabinets.

While work was being done on the inside of the house, Tomas was working on the outside, chipping away cement so we can tie in the new storage room to our home.

Life is chaotic, but great. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

A small farmer in our Brgy planting his rice paddies. I was speaking with Joyce's uncle who farms and he says kids are losing interest in farming (where and when did we hear that in America) and machinery is replacing the Carabao. His area once had over 40 Carabao working the fields, now he says there are only 3 or 4.

The question I have is "progress" worth losing traditions and connections to the earth?
