FLUVIAL PROCESSION 2025
A significant part of the Peñafrancia Festivities, honoring Our Lady of Peñafrancia, and shows the strong faith of the Bicolanos and cultural heritage along the Naga River.
The fluvial procession begins with a foot procession from the Metropolitan Cathedral leading to the Reina del Bicol Pier. From there, the celebration continues on the waters of the Naga River, where the image of Our Lady is carried aboard a beautifully decorated pagoda. As the river journey concludes, the faithful accompany her once more in a final foot procession, bringing the image back to the Basilica Grounds.
During the fluvial procession, devotees wave white handkerchiefs, sing, and pray as the image passes along the river, expressing deep faith and unity. The celebration culminates with a Pontifical Mass at the Basilica, where the images are solemnly received, highlighting the event’s spiritual importance.
The fluvial procession of the Peñafrancia Festival serves as a powerful display of faith, unity, and tradition, bringing together people from all walks of life in honor of Our Lady of Peñafrancia. It remains a lasting symbol of the Bicolano people’s unwavering devotion, reaching far beyond the region.
