Most people see Frankfurt and think money. Glass towers, trading floors, the engine room of European finance.
But stand on the Main at the right hour, when the sky turns heavy and the light goes flat and grey, and the whole city changes character. The skyline stops looking like a balance sheet and starts looking like something out of a film. Cold. Monumental. Almost defiant against the weather rolling in.
That’s the Frankfurt I keep coming back to shoot. Not the postcard version. The one with weight to it. Where the cloud cover does half the work and the towers just stand there, unbothered, like they’ve seen worse.
They nicknamed it “Mainhattan” as a joke about ambition. But on days like this, it earns the name for real.
