Suleman Ahmer ----- An Introduction
Suleman is a material scientist and his graduate work and research with the US Air Force and the US Navy on temperature tolerant alternate semiconductors has culminated in published work. He has the honor of officially visiting the Nuclear Reactor of the Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH), near Islamabad as a scientist.
He has a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His non-technical coursework focused on Psychology.
A few years later, he bid farewell to Material Science and moved on to international relief work. Working for two Chicago based humanitarian organizations, he developed expertise in designing and building medical facilities in war zones.
He has served in 6 war areas including Bosnia, Chechnya and Tajikistan. His experiences are captured in the ‘The Embattled Innocence: reflections of a Muslim Relief worker’ published in the US. He has traveled to 31 countries.
During his travels and war experiences, he was captivated by the power of worthy visions and purposes in transforming human lives and destinies of nations. Resolving to teach the world what he had learnt, he set up Timelenders--a training and consulting firm--in 2002 and teaches courses such as Strategic Visions and Leadership. He helps institutions crystallize worthy purposes and visions.
Personally and through his trainers, he has taught over 50,000 people from over 75 nationalities. His teaching, training and consulting work spans 11 countries from Malaysia to France.
Timelenders’ corporate clients include Government organizations like ADNOC, Abu Dhabi; Fujairah International Airport and the Pakistan Army; and large global giants such as Nestle, Pfizer, Philips, Siemens and Toyota.
He has helped develop the vision and contributed to the establishment of a number of Institutions like the Indus Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan (a state of the art medical facility providing services completely free of cost), Akhuwat in Lahore, Pakistan (the world's largest interest-free microfinance institution) and Pak-Qatar Takaful, the largest Islamic Insurance company in Pakistan today.
He has taught at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS: academic year 2011) and at the Karachi School of Business and Leadership (KSBL: 2016-2017).
Suleman's writings covering wars, geopolitics and history have appeared in prestigious magazines like The Washington Post for Middle East Affairs, Washington.
He has spoken at 39 US universities including Georgetown, Harvard, John Hopkins and MIT. In Pakistan he has spoken at prestigious academic institutions like the Bahria University, the Air War College, the Naval War College and the National Defense University (NDU).
He is a co-founder and currently the director of the Sahil Welfare Association, a subsidiary of the Bahria Foundation of the Pakistan Navy, which invests in education, healthcare and economic empowerment of the coastal areas of Pakistan
Suleman's hobbies include trekking, long distance ocean swimming, swimming instruction, entrepreneurship, scuba diving, Tennis, Table Tennis, painting,writing, poetry and having and raising kids. He takes his hobbies seriously. He has played the Karachi Open in Tennis; played Table Tennis at the YMCA in Chinnai, India; is a partner and board member of 6 businesses; runs a swimming club; has 11 children and divides his time between Dubai, Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore.
