Facebook and Instagram now demand that reels hook and engage viewers instantly, which means more and more content is created solely for that purpose. It forces creators to sacrifice their originality and submit to fast-moving trends. But I love diversity, and I want to see niche reels, not just the ones made to chase the algorithm.
​I love videos with simple, slow-paced shots. Real, meaningful content—not brain rot. Unfortunately, Meta is not heading down this path.
​It’s no secret that platforms like Facebook and Instagram are obsessed with watch time. Their algorithms now strictly demand that Reels hook viewers within the first two seconds, forcing creators into a desperate race for retention. As a result, the feed has become incredibly monotonous. To survive, creators are forced to sacrifice their unique voice, strip away their originality, and mindlessly bend to whatever trend is viral this week.
​But honestly? I miss diversity. I want to discover niche Reels made by passionate people, not just carbon-copy videos designed to cheat the algorithm. I crave cinematic, slow-paced content with simple, beautiful shots that actually let you breathe. I want substance, not fast-paced "brain rot" or digital trash.
​Sadly, Meta is moving in the exact opposite direction. By prioritizing dopamine hits over genuine artistry, they are turning social media into a factory of noise, leaving true creativity behind.
