Sometimes, it feels silly to post about our business on social media. Like maybe, given everything going on in the world, this isn’t as important to talk about. Selling our work and promoting photo and video… it’s almost insulting to talk about while so many communities and coalitions and people are fighting the injustices of the world. But I’ve had a change of heart. Because this isn’t a post about selling our photography or promoting our business. This is about celebrating the couple. This is about celebrating Catherine and Kevin, who reminded me while I was editing their gallery, that the most powerful thing you can do, is bring people together. As important as it is to protest in the streets and fight for your rights, it is equally important to be around community, friends, family - and play and dance and share joy. It’s the reminder that it is necessary to laugh and smile and that being a part of community can be healing. Even editing photos of people laughing and loving and having the time of their lives, for me is healing. I find myself smiling in the process. So if you’re in the middle of a war, if you’re battling the powers at be, or life just feels a little hard right now, don’t forget to go out and play. Go out and dance. Go out and be a part of community. Love your friends, your family, your neighbors. You may just find, it’s exactly what you need.
