Fourteen-year-old Palestinian boy Omar Halawa, displaced from northern Gaza to western Gaza City, is an amputee who lost his leg in an Israeli airstrike during the war that began on October 7, 2023. He is making kites inside his tent before distributing them to other children in the displacement camp.

Earlier today, the Israeli Defense Minister threatened to respond forcefully to what he called the "kite threat" from the Gaza Strip.
