I’m proud of this new work for Comforcare/At Your Side, a home healthcare service, and, , the Phoenix-based agency, who asked me to bring my documentary experience to the project. The creatives and clients were _exceptionally_fun to work with and trusted me and my team to make it all happen. I have experienced myself how hard it can be finding home healthcare professionals that you can trust with loved ones, so I really related to this. Gratitude.

Our short doc keeps chugging along, this is a big one- our deepest thanks to the Hawai’i International Film Festival, to our legendary subjects our killr crew and everyone who generously helped make this film happen. For me the ultimate has already happened with the film being incorporated into Asian American studies programs at San Jose State University and UC Berkeley - education is everything

Friend and former neighbor, Seu José, who with his wife Dona Generosa kindly welcomed us to Portugal after we arrived in a northern wine-country village. I am revisiting this image in color today, which I now prefer to the previously posted last summer in bw. Time does that. It takes me a while sometimes to figure this out, the age old battle. I still see everything in bw, having had that zone system previsualization regime beaten into me as a teenager. So with the luxury of shooting digital in color I give myself a real headache later. The color image has to prove it works, even without the sometimes lovely crutch color can bring to prop up a lessor photograph. And sometimes I just let anything with red do its thing…

Not happy, it’s definitely the saddest 4th of July in my lifetime… I get the feeling that millions of Americans have no idea the Trump-dominant supreme court just eviscerated the constitiution by making the President immune to prosecution- as long as whatever criminal act he does is considered an official act. Republican and Democratic party senators stood together in condemnation of Nixon and his many crimes and Nixon was denied immunity by the then supreme court and he shortly after resigned. Today he would have gotten a pass on Watergate. So now we have a kind of king- the opposite of whet we are supposed to celebrate today, which is the idea that no man is above the law. No more… !

My portrait of Creative Director Russell Preston Brown circa 1988 that he updated yesterday using amazing Adobe Photoshop ai tools; he is still Creative Director all these years later and I can’t think of any other person whose had as great an impact on photography in my lifetime - he has had a vision since the start of bringing digital tools to empower photographers to realize their own creative vision. Bless you Russell, you brilliant rascal, never stop!
