One of the things I love about living in Lisbon is stumbling across moments like this.

Every June, the city celebrates the Festas de Santo António, and one of the highlights is the famous Casamentos de Santo António – the St Anthony Weddings.

Couples from across the 16 districts of Lisbon take part in a tradition that has become part of the city's history, with crowds lining the streets to cheer them on as they make their way through the city.

The smiles, the excitement and the atmosphere are something special to witness, and it's another reminder that Lisbon isn't just beautiful – it's full of life and tradition.

Sometimes the best photographs aren't planned at all.

One of the things I enjoy about living in Lisbon is discovering places that aren't trying too hard to be tourist attractions.

Loja das Conservas, near Cais do Sodré, was one of those places.

I stopped in for Bacalhau à Brás, a traditional Portuguese dish made with salt cod, onions, eggs and potatoes. It's one of those dishes you'll find all over Portugal, but not every version is worth remembering.

This one was.

Good food, a relaxed atmosphere and somewhere I'd happily return to.

If someone asked me where I'd choose to propose in Lisbon, my answer would probably surprise them.

Most people head straight for the busiest tourist spots, but after spending years visiting Lisbon and now calling the city home, I've found that the most memorable proposal locations are often the ones that combine incredible views with the right atmosphere and timing.

Miradouro da Senhora do Monte remains one of my personal favourites. The views across the city are hard to beat, especially as the sun begins to set and Lisbon starts to glow. But there are also quieter locations around Alfama, Belém and Ajuda that can make an equally perfect setting for a proposal.
