Last few days or I should say months, I have been busy working at BayBliss with other photography work that AfrinFramin was a bit overshadowed.

It's been my long cherished wish to do couple shoots in numerous SF locations. I have been researching 10s of places (or even more), watching 1000s of photos, planning my own frames, taking countless screenshots, even curating itinery to cover more places in shorter time. But I did not have good luck in convincing a couple to take them to SF for bringing this vision of mine in reality. So when I proposed Refat let's go to SF for her pre anniversary shoot and she agreed I was overjoyed. I felt I have been preparing for this shoot for so long but still on the day of the shoot, I was nervous, and anxious since it's not just having a solid plan, but also making my models comfortable enough with me so that they can be themselves to bring out their best poses.

Bollywood movie My Name is Khan, I have not watched the movie (people might laugh at me), but I know that the Sajdaa song from this movie had a wedding scene in Palace of Fine Arts. I felt like I was recreating some of those scenes.

Although I love Refat's traditional red veil look but I wanna talk about Refat's white veil - it was show stopper. I love seeing this desi bride fusioning between desi and western with her gorgeous saree and the long white veil creating this fairytale lovestory in SF.

And last, thanks to Refat's mom, who helped fly the veil, hold it the way I wanted. Not just that, we even had volunteers from strangers to fly the veil fighting the wind just so I can take my desired shots.

Sometimes no matter how much we plan, we get some unexpected shots that we never planned before become our fav. The cover of this post is like that. In love with the shot myself, that bokehed red orna, red bangles, and the timing of the bird cannot be any more perfect than this. And in this whole shoot I think I had good luck capturing lots of birds, I would not say each time I was ready, but I somehow managed to capture a lot of birds in my various shots.

One day I wish to shoot all 10s of my chosen SF locations with 10 different couples bringing this full vision of mine out of my head through my lens. Hope it is just a beginning.

🤎𝑨𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕🇶🇦

After my bucket list night shoot in that glittery saree, I had to wear one Jamdani saree in the next morning since I am trying to wear at least one Jamdani saree in all my recent countries I have been visiting since 2024.

This post is a compilation of my two recent trips to Doha. One in Dec 2024, and another one in Jan 2026. I wore the same Jamdani saree both times. Qatar had few Bangladeshi restaurants as well, so tried some food before heading out for Morocco in my first trip.

I had two complete different experience visiting Doha alone vs with friend at night. In Jan 2026, I was
traveling back from Dhaka and took a layover of 16 hrs from around 2pm to 6am. My flight was delayed, and I reached around 5pm. So I was able to go out for sight seeing around 8pm or something like that. Qatar has so many Bangladeshi people living in Doha. Last time when I was traveling with friend I felt completely safe while roaming around late at night taking photos. That time there were so many Bangladeshi people too around me, no one stared or asked anything. But this time it was safe too but after seeing me in a saree, a Bangladeshi restaurant owner asked me if I was from Bangladesh, kept asking questions, and offered me tea at some point. I said no and minded my own business taking photos. He kept staring and after a while I ignored and kinda forgot about him and then saw him again w a cup of tea!!! I said didn’t I say no!! He said he thought I might be cold wo a jacket wearing a saree! 🤣🙄I left the place right away packing up my gears. It was around 10 pm. This is just one example I am sharing but I had so many other stares and curious minds this time mostly seeing a girl wearing saree taking her own photos at night. Those are mostly harmful stares, and curiosity but for sure made me uncomfortable since I was in a foreign country. A girl traveling solo vs w others can totally leave you with different experience.

✨ 𝐃𝐨𝐡𝐚 𝐁𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 🇶🇦

My Qatari night needed my shiniest look to match with the city! 🇶🇦✨Drive through the shiny waterfront and stopping over multiple view points while capturing the same scene over and over were so magical and an unforgettable memory!

I am not quite a fan of cold. Always prefer to visit warmer places by any means. That’s why did not even visit Cappadocia while I was in Türkiye when I get to know it might snow there during the time I was visiting. So it felt so cozy and perfect for me when I arrived Qatar after my 2 days trip to Istanbul (Post 1). Istanbul was pretty cold too! Qatar felt like Phoenix, Arizona, weather wise and road and infrastructure wise. So it felt home instantly since Phoenix is one of my many homes I have lived in so far!

In my short 1 night and half day trip to Doha, a dreamy shoot at night was all I wanted in this shiny city with lights. And ever since I saw this saree I wanted to drape it either in Dubai or Doha. Since Doha happened first, I wore this beauty in Doha. And always wanted to shoot at night, somehow never did it in the US, finally that came true in this dreamy places at Doha! Had to struggle finding light sources. Need to add a light in my gear next. Have not done so yet since I do not take a lot of photos at night, almost none which needs to be changed as well.

With this saree, I could not just wear my sneaker. So had to pack this glass heel with this glittery saree for this city of light. I always knew I had a thing for heels in my photoshoot. And after this shoot, no matter how packed my suitcase space is I always make room for some matching heels with my saree. There are more to come of my saree, heels, jewelry in yet another country look. I am not rushing with the upload of these series ! It takes lot of time, effort, energy, and money to create these perfect moments, so I am taking my time to savor it and enjoy the process of preserving these lifetime memories to look back.

𝓔𝓲𝓭 𝓾𝓵 𝓐𝓭𝓱𝓪👝♥️🐆2026 ♠️

Have been quite busy last two weeks with trip planning for the memorial day, will post about it soon I hope, then couple of field inspections at work and multiple professional photoshoots! So I barely got time to post.

Eid on a Wednesday right in the middle of weekdays after a long weekend had zero festivity for me. I had two dawats the following weekend so was looking forward to celebrating later in the weekend.

And when one Eid Dawat is at San Ramon, thy must take photo in this beautiful waterfalls. This waterfalls was in my bucket list for quite sometime. I thought it is a small manmade waterfalls. So I did not visit sooner. And even on the dawat day, I was procrastinating to go sooner thinking there won’t be much to shoot there in an artificial waterfalls. After arriving I realized it has 4-5 waterfalls which is quite beautiful since I love waterfalls and I wish I went there earlier to try even more angles. I went 1 hr before the dawat, but stayed almost 2.5 hrs, 🤦‍♀️ it was hard to leave behind this stunning spot lit with the golden light. Even after 2.5 hrs I was not done shooting my heart out every nook and cranny. Even though I tried a lot of angles but this place has potential to shoot even more.

These days whenever I plan a trip for a long weekend, I cannot stay active with my posts the week before and the week after planning the trip. Hope to start posting again my usual series.

💙𝑻𝒖𝒓𝒌𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝑫𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕🕌

Most of you know me for my look away photos wearing saree in beautiful nature: lakes, beaches, mountains, deserts, forests, beautiful roads, flower fields, autumn scenes and what not, you just name it! After trying those me in nature photos here is another attempt where I tried to take those in cities! Last two years have been trying to take those photos in 15 different cities (Istanbul, Doha, Casablanca, Marrakech, Cairo, Hongkong, Amsterdam, Athens, Santorini, Rome, Vatican City, Budapest, Bucharest, Jakarta, Bali, Kuala Lumpur) around the world. My try was to create upbeat, modern, and elegant yet simple look wearing sarees! And in that process Jamdani saree was in my top inspo, and tried to wear it at least once in all the cities I have visited in these past two years. The reason for choosing Jamadani was to represent Bangladesh and these saree can give you very modern yet fairytale look as well. I tried to put on some other material sarees here and there too! Starting this new series “Afrin Around the World” in Saree with my fav city: Istanbul! 💙 So far I have 24 posts in this series (hopefully,🤞it may change)!!!! I know so many posts, and quite overwhelming!! Not sure how long it will take for me to upload all these photos and reels, and complete this series but uploading the first one is always a good start!

I am glad I put on saree and capture all my dream shots without further ado after arriving. The next day was very cold with rain. And it was no brainer to pick a blue Jamdani saree for this city of blue mosque!

All the countries I have visited in past two years feel a distant dream while grinding in my daily life right now. Don’t wanna make that dream fade away by adding these photos time to time in my timeline!

🪭বৈশাখী ছবি ১৪৩৩! 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒂 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔🐯

Wanted to visit Berkeley Campus for quite some time. Been to Stanford campus multiple times for visiting with friends, self shoot, some freelance grand shoots, but for some reason never been to Berkeley Campus. So I was just looking for a reason to visit this campus and meet some of the people in person whom I only have seen online for years. And this Boishakh program by the Bangladeshi Students & Scholars at Berkeley was just perfect for me to visit this campus. I totally loved the campus in my first glimpse, it reminded me my own campus UBC at Vancouver specially when I had a peek of the beach from the hill on my way to the venue, neighborhood was so fancy mansion like with beautiful flowers in the backyards. Will definitely visit next spring for some selfshoots.
This event had two photographers: Md Nazibul Islam and Farabi Mahmud which you can already see by looking at these beautiful set. Thanks to both the photographers for these beautiful photos.

🌿 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬🌺

Almost that time of the year in California when the cities will be adorned with the vibrant shades of Crype Myrtle!

I always get asked how do I match with nature all the time. The thing is that sometimes I really don’t and I don’t post about those failed attempts. haha And I don’t even bother taking photos in that outfit sometimes until I change into what I think would complement the nature. This post is an example where I felt I did not quite match with the nature in the orange saree. I only took 2 rounds (~10 in each set) of timer photos in that orange saree before I change into the purple one. The struggle of matching with nature can be tiring….

Had to take multiple AC and cold water breaks between shots since it was summer time in Sac!

🌸𝑺𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒊𝒄𝒏𝒊𝒄🧺

When this used to be my backyard in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. This dreamy hanging cherry tree, and this lush green are just so peefect for a spring picnic outing, and don’t miss that duck in the first photo.

I think this is the last set of photos until spring of 2025! Will share all my spring 2026 next year hopefully. Finally being able to upload all those old spring photos was a feel good moment for me. I have one more set for summer flower which I will be sharing tomorrow. And then hopefully I will start something new.
