Audi just presented a major facelift update for the A3/S3/RS3.
Just a quick overview:

- It gets now Audis skateboard interior, with removal of the so loved AC control physical buttons
- The steering wheel from the A5, A6, Q5, Q3, Q6 etc, now is also in the A3/S3..
- Great news is that the classic badges return to the S3 and RS3.
- The front badge also returns in the front, but no full model definition
- Adaptive cruise assist plus, trained parking, and remote parking function for greater comfort and safety
- New digital daytime running light signatures

The RS4 Avant from the years 2012-2015, the B8 generation, or more specific B8.5, is really one of the greatest Audis you can buy. It has literally everything that you look for in an Audi. Let me count a few things of what it has, compared to what the new RS5 B10 Avant, doesn’t have.

- A beautiful interior, with all the smallest details that are so important for the average Audi owner
- One of the best steering wheels that Audi has ever made
- A proper gearshifter
- A perfect instrument cluster, which shows basically everything you need to see
- The MMI k**b in the middle which is so easy to use. Want Apple CarPlay? Get a module.
- Proper buttons and high quality k**bs. No need to take your eyes off the road to change anything on touch screens. It’s all next to your hand.
- Proper badging everywhere, with same design and full model definition.
- You can choose between the black and classic silver optics. The Audi logo always stays silver. Pride!
- High revving V8 engine (8250 rpm) with an awesome double clutch gearbox which gives eargasms up on downshifts
- You can see from far away, that it is an Audi RS. It doesn’t try hard to be something it isn’t. It doesn’t look like anything else on the road. Audi was creating their own lane. They didn’t copy.

This time, I decided to put both the new RS5 Avant and Sedan in one video, as I had these for a shoot the same day.
I dive into my thoughts about how they look, certainly how they drive, what Audi DNA they have, and what I like and what I dislike about the hottest new Audi at the moment.
The video is almost 20 mins long, and I noticed that you appreciate when I dig deep in the history of the cars, and share my wholehearted thoughts about that. I compare these also to the B7, B8 and B9 in the video, so I’m sure it’s gonna be appreciated.

Some interesting badging updates found on the Audi configurators on the web.
The S6 e-tron and SQ6 e-tron not only go back to the classic Audi Sport rhombus font, but also add ”e-tron” next to it.
I like it. It makes sense and easy to distinguish.
What doesn’t make sense, is that the S3, S5 etc, still keep the updated and dis-liked font from last 2 years.
Also, the new SQ9 has the classic Audi Sport badge as well, but not the Q7… which has the new/removed one.
While the SQ7, has the old/new one… Haha. Did I loose you? I think I lost myself…

I have had some good talks with the guys at ABT lately and especially my buddy Daniel Abt and will do more collaborations and shoots in 2026 for sure. Stay tuned.

For example how happy I am to see the round steering wheel making a comeback, with new materials for the airbag cover. Looks o much better!
Also the looks of this car is I think the best in the lineup right now. Especially with the 11cm(!!) wider body than the normal A6 Avant.
But I also point of the so important small details that are still missing. Such as the lack of a quattro badge in the grille that has been there for 27 years.
Same with the interior that has still so much things to improve.
But all an all, this car is surely a move in the right direction.

So, the curtain falls.

There I share my full thoughts and opinion about this fifth generation of Audis popular all-rounder.
The first thing that hits you, is that for the first time it comes with a wide-body. It’s 11cm wider than the A6 Avant.
Also, it has an adaptive air suspension developed specifically for this model, with 55mm in adjustment range. That is 25mm more than the A6 and it sits 34mm higher in its normal mode.
It comes with two engines at first, a 3 litre TDI mild hybrid and a e-hybrid TFSI as well.
The good things from the interior, is that the round steering wheel is back, with a leather airbag cover with nice stitching.
More steps in the right direction.
