I just put out a new video explaining how curves can be stacked in Lightroom and in what order they’re applied to an image. Here I’m stacking a Kodak Gold 200 camera response curve with a Kodak 2383 film print curve on a Sony A7 III file, and the colors are absolutely insane and the mood of the photo is super film like

Using an 85mm lens in the studio is all about clean perspective and control. The compression flatters faces, keeps proportions natural, and makes room for larger light setups. On YT i posted a short where I break down this exact light, and I bet you won't believe what I used to diffuse my key light

NEW ARTICLE! - A deep dive on how Contrast works in Adobe Lightroom

Contrast seems so simple, yet it is so beautifully complicated and complex. So, let’s start with a basic definition, and then I’ll try to explain why the contrast slider in LR is widely misunderstood, and what we should use instead of it, for more control while editing our photos. I am going to be using Lightroom as my raw editor of choice today, but all the concepts presented below will apply to any other photo editing software.

I stopped chasing looks and started analyzing contrast. Building the False Color preview for Lightroom made me realize how much of my decision-making was guesswork.

This tool permanently changed how I colorgade my images. Thi also took the way im use using color response curves to the next level but more on that later.

It took me more than a year to crack a clean way of getting Kodak 2383 into a Lightroom Camera Profile without letting that aggressive contrast wreck the image. I wanted the color science, the warm highlights, the cool green-blue shadows, the depth, all of it, but that baked-in S curve crushes dynamic range so hard that I just dismissed it. And the worst part was that trying to lower the contrast inside the profile wouldn't help, because the Kodak 2383 S is not centered right in the center of the tone spectrum. So pulling down contrast as usual would ruin the entire look.

The solution I came up with instead was using a mask to negate all the extra contrast with an inverted S curve and pull the tones back in line with the contrast levels of Adobe Standard. I didn't realize this until recently, but you can actually bake local masks into Adobe Camera Profile, and that's exactly where I place my reversed S curve for 2383

Led panel lights are cool, but they spil light all over the place, and most of them dont come with any accessories to control the light spill. So i made my own, and i like the result so much making some more soon

False Color will help you get the skintones right in Lightroom

False Color can be an excellent tool if you want to precisely adjust the exposure of your skin tones in your portrait photos, and normally, you would want them to be around 60% grey level. But that's not all, False Color can also help you spot exposure mistakes and fix them with ease using local adjustments

🎨 This week, I went full nerd and figured out a way to get False Color in Adobe Lightroom
Creating it from scratch was a bit complicated, but I made my own color palette that is easy to read, and it turns out this tool is way more useful than I expected.

False color is a foolproof way to perfectly set exposure. And now I use false color in Lightroom to pinpoint overexposed and underexposed areas so I can fix them with precision.

I also wrote a full breakdown (plus a video) showing exactly how I did it on my blog - link in first comment

Can you blur your photos in Lightroom?

By using the old Noise Reduction tools in Lightroom, you can get something unique. A bit of BLUR. Blurring our photos is not something we can usually do inside Lightroom. And while simply adding blur to an image is not something very desirable, a bit of blur can go a long way when you are emulating film grain or trying to get some other creative effects done without jumping into Photoshop for it.
