Walked, talked, photographed and posed… man, we really burned through some film yesterday. Ended up at developing HP5 in beer. And it actually worked, 8th grade chemistry teacher, this one goes out to you 🫵

It’s been a while since we took you out for a walk… so let’s spend some quality time together, maybe? We’ve got a really special day planned for .festival 👉👈

📸 Go on a photowalk with photographers .neculai and .chesu (blonde dude and beard guy at °isopatrusute). We’ll meet up at .ro, head towards Piața Romană ➡️ Armenian Quarter ➡️ Jewish Quarter ➡️ to wrap it up.
Bring your film camera, dig*tal camera, Polaroid camera, DIY camera being held together by tape and prayers - don’t care, won’t check. We’ll just wait here with goodie bags and 10% off dev scan for everyone who attends 🫶

🍺 Immediately after the walk, you’ll learn how to turn beer into actual developer. Yes, really! will walk you through all the steps, from getting you accustomed to darkroom tools, prepping the film and chemicals, to actual development and scanning the negatives. Btw workshop people, film’s on us!👋

Hello and welcome to our amphitheatre, please take a seat, class is in session! 🧑‍🏫
Let °iso gang explain what’s up with this pushing and pulling film shtick.

But isooooooo, I thought we weren’t supposed to pull on the film, won’t we damage it? Ahm, yes, but this is a different, more esoteric kind of pulling, ok? Cool.

So we’ve heard you want to push.
👉 Set your ISO higher than what’s written on the box, underexposing your image.
👉 We develop the film for a longer time, letting shadows go deeper while highlights retain more information.
⬆️ This amps up the contrast and saturation, and makes that grain pop. 💥 Wave goodbye to shadow detail.

And what about pull? Just the other way around.
👉 Set your ISO lower than your film’s speed, overexposing your pictures.
👉 We develop for less time, so shadows stop early but highlights don’t go too far.
⬇️ This lowers contrast and saturation, while making grain less visible. Dreamy color paradise.

Wow, does that mean I can finally magically change the sensibility of any stock I want to shoot and use it in any light —— NO, film still has limitations.
Actually, you know what? Go and be free, experiment! Just please please please don’t forget to tell us when you bring in your film.

Every day your phone buzzes and it’s something else falling apart. Political instability, war edging closer, women’s rights being once again disregarded. And it keeps going.

This is a call for protest.
We want you to get angry and show us what that anger looks like through your eyes.

👉 Pick up to 5 of your best shots. Powerful pictures taken during protests you attended or acts of rebellion caught on film.
👉 Make sure they’re shot on film and developed + scanned by us.
👉 Send ‘em over via the link in our bio. No fees, just a chance for your work to be seen on a wall.
👉 We’ll pick 6 to show next month in the .ro yard.
