JamesHolm.com Follow me if you want to see my life as an action and automotive photographer. In 1996 my company was established in Gothenburg on the west cost of Sweden.

The main object in front of the camera back then was skateboarding which later turned into snowboarding. During many years I traveled around the world for search of the best snow. Since about ten years, cars have been the prime object and writing has also become a tool in my company. As a writing photographer I've been able to make stories about some of the most exclusive cars in the world.

Koenigsegg Gemera is now entering production.

For me, this is more than just another hypercar. It’s part of a journey I’ve followed closely for many years – both as a photographer and as a motoring journalist.

The article builds on an interview and photoshoot from 2020, which I’ve now revisited and reworked with additional images and a more complete perspective. It captures a moment in time, but also a development that is now moving into a new phase.

It’s this combination of engineering, ambition and storytelling that makes Koenigsegg so fascinating to follow.

The Koenigsegg Gemera takes the step from concept to reality. A four-seater megacar with up to 2300 hp, hybrid technology and extreme performance.

Volvo ECC – a future vision I experienced together with my father

In the early 1990s, Volvo presented the Environmental Concept Car, a concept vehicle that at the time felt like pure science fiction and would later influence the design of the Volvo S80.

As a teenager, I had the opportunity to follow my father, Bengt Ason Holm, behind the scenes while he was shooting the car for international press material. I even got to borrow one of his cameras and take a few photos myself.

Now, many years later, I revisit the story of the Volvo ECC, the vision behind the car, and my own journey into the world of automotive photography.

Discover the 1992 Volvo ECC Concept, a visionary concept car that pioneered the Volvo S80 and introduced hybrid technology.

Volkswagen T-Roc – a model with its own identity

The new Volkswagen T-Roc has arrived, and I have just completed my test drive. The article is now live on CarsCollection.com. Link in my profile, or use the search function on the site.

Since its introduction, the T-Roc has stood out in the compact SUV segment by leaning more toward design, driving feel, and character than many others in its class.

Volkswagen T-Roc preview where I test the R-Line on Swedish roads and analyse design, driving feel and positioning in the segment.

Zeekr 7GT marks a bold step into the electric GT segment.
A low-slung Gran Tourer focused on long-distance comfort, performance, and design rather than SUV trends.

The Zeekr 7GT marks a new step for the brand and clearly shows its ambition to take its place in a more unusual segment of the electric car market. This is neither an SUV nor a traditional hatchback. Instead, the Zeekr 7GT is an electric GT, or Gran Tourer, with a focus on long-distance comfort, per...

The Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ article is now live on CarsCollection.com.
A car defined by feeling rather than numbers, with a character that fits like a well-tailored leather jacket.

A model where feel has always come first In this Mercedes CLA 250+ test, I take a closer look at how the model has evolved from a design-focused four-door coupé to a modern electric car with a clear focus on range, efficiency and driving comfort. The CLA has always been more about emotion than unco...

Nissan Ariya Nismo is now live on CarsCollection.com.
Tested in real winter conditions, which honestly is the worst possible time of year to fully experience a potent car like this.
Read the full article at CarsCollection.com.

To start off honestly, I took the Nissan Ariya Nismo out at completely the wrong time of year. This is a car built to be playful, potent and engaging, and those qualities simply don't come into their own when the surface consists of shiny ice, snowy mud and winter roads. Of course, it is possible to...

Behind the details of every Pagani is Modena Design.

In my latest article on CarsCollection.com, I take a closer look at the independent company and craftsmanship behind many of the most iconic components from Pagani Automobili.

Modena Design is a fundamental part of Pagani's DNA. A name that doesn't always appear on the surface, but in practice is behind every machined detail, every control and every mechanical component in cars like the Pagani Zonda, Huayra and Pagani Utopia. For me, Modena Design is more than a technolog...

My article about the new Mazda 6e is now live on carscollection.com.

From ice racing with a Mazda MX-5 in Åre back in 2011, via the launch of Mazda 6 in Portugal, to today’s fully electric Mazda 6e.
This is my journey with Mazda and how the brand enters the electric era without losing its focus on driving pleasure.

My relationship with Mazda goes back further than many might think. Back in 2011, I had my first really strong encounter with the brand when I took part in an ice race with the Mazda MX-5 on Lake Kallsjön, on the back side of Åreskutan. The conditions could hardly have been better: brilliant sunsh...

I used to know how to ride a snowboard. Luckily, I still do.

After the motorcycle accident in 2022, I honestly wasn’t sure I ever would again. So being able to still make it down a mountain on a snowboard means more to me than I can really explain.

I got the chance to confirm that last year with my friend Jonas Ousbäck () in Tegefjäll, Åre, where he has his house. Jonas has a deep passion for snowboarding, something that really shows in both the location and the way the place is built and used. Jonas also rents the house out, and the last six images in this post are all taken there. If you’re interested in renting it, just send Jonas a DM for price and availability.

The house was designed and built by Jonas himself and is truly top of the line, with a high level of finish throughout and every detail carefully thought out. Even the stairs from the parking area are smartly covered, so you never have to shovel snow.

The rental even includes an older model Toyota Hilux, nothing fancy, but fully functional and perfect for the mountains.

These snowboard images of me are much older though. The first photo was taken in Brudaremossen, Gothenburg. The other three were shot in Wäsabergen during springtime, by if I remember correctly ☺️

I really love snowboarding and its deep connection to skateboarding 🙏🏻

I’ll be sharing more work here from my years as a snowboard photographer.
