I love Bermondsey St, and I REALLY loved the new restaurant by Spanish chef — I went with on the first sunny day in what felt like forever and we tried pan con tomate verde with manchego, Paleta Ibérica, courgette carpaccio, octopus with caper berries, and the most incredible Presa Ibérica, which is basically the wagyu of pork and the most delicious pork dish I’ve ever tried. Crema catalana and coffee to finish. So good.
The interiors are warm and welcoming and so was the service. Highly recommend any of the Pizarro restaurants along Bermondsey St — Lolo is such a nice addition to this stretch.

The world’s oldest open-air museum — Skansen in Stockholm, under a magical layer of snow over new year. ❄️
We had such a wonderful day there exploring the traditional buildings and homes that have been collected there from all over Sweden. Definitely recommend, especially if you have children — ours loved it.

Merry Christmas everyone — I hope you have a happy and peaceful holiday.
Thinking of all those for whom this is a hard time of year, those who miss their families far away (🙋🏼‍♀️), and anyone who is feeling the pressures of the season to make everything special. May you find joy and light over the next few days.

I wrote about why this is the best time of year to visit Pickering Place over at my new project — it’s mainly a Substack project because it’s more of a deeper dive than my typical Instagram caption. You can click on the link in my bio if these survivors of London’s past layers are something you’re interested in.
I needed a new challenge and this feels like the right time to go a little deeper than Instagram allows.
And last but definitely not least, I don’t love video, either making or consuming it, so words and pictures on Substack feels like a natural home for me. Come and say hi if this sounds like you too.

We woke up on Saturday morning to discover water leaking from our laundry to the room below and the one below that. Ran around like mad things trying to turn off the water, called a plumber who fixed it, we mopped up and thanked our lucky stars it wasn’t worse. Then the ceiling of the room below the laundry collapsed and we spent hours and hours cleaning it up and praying that the next room down would be ok (so far, so good). Woke up on Sunday morning thinking we just had to do something nice or we would go mad, so went to Columbia Rd early before the crowds, and it was exactly what we needed.
We did come back home to discover a little more plaster on the floor from what was left of the ceiling, but at least there are garlands on the mantelpieces!
