Their broth is actually lighter and more easy-going — but still flavourful enough to keep you going back for another sip. 😋

The prawns were fresh and naturally sweet, while the pork ribs were tender and nicely cooked, without being tough or dry.

Had a pretty satisfying Peranakan weekend feast at Whampoa Room, One Farrer Hotel — and there were quite a few dishes that caught my attention. 😋

My personal picks? The comforting Itek Tim (Nyonya Duck Soup), fragrant Nyonya Laksa, crispy Kueh Pie Tee, smoky and nutty Ayam Buah Keluak, and the rich, savoury Babi Pongteh. These are the ones I’d happily go back for!

What I like is that the dishes are served on a rotational basis, with the chef selecting what to serve, so there’s always something different to look forward to.

And of course, dessert is a must! 🤭 The colourful Nyonya kueh, traditional Chendol live station and warm Bubur Cha Cha were the perfect way to end the feast.

If you love familiar, comforting Peranakan flavours, this is definitely one to add to your weekend dining list! ❤️

Fan of lobster and crab, Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant's Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel latest seasonal menu is definitely worth checking out! 🦞🦀

Available from 13 Jul to 30 Sept 2026, the Gourmet Lobster & Sri Lankan Crab Delicacies menu features a selection of beautifully executed dishes showcasing the natural sweetness of premium seafood.

🦀We started with the Bird's Nest with Crab Meat in Hairy Crab Stock. It was served piping hot in a stone pot, so the soup stayed warm throughout the meal. I liked that there was plenty of crab meat in every spoonful, making it a comforting way to begin the feast.

🦞I also liked the Wok-Fried Lobster with Trio Onion in Green Peppercorn Sauce. The lobster was fresh and chunky, while the green peppercorn sauce gave it a nice peppery kick without being too spicy.

🦀The Steamed Live Crab with Minced Pork Chop and Premium Preserved Radish Paste was something different. The crab was sweet and fresh, and I enjoyed eating it together with the minced pork and preserved radish. Simple, but it worked really well. Definitely one of my favourites of the meal.

🦞Another dish that stood out for me was the Wok-Fried Rice Noodle with Live Lobster in Crab Roe Sauce. The rice noodles reminded me a little of chee cheong fun, soft and smooth, and they soaked up all the crab roe sauce.

To finish, we had a trio of desserts:
🥣 Bird's Nest with Almond Cream served in a Mini Pumpkin
🍡 Red Bean Glutinous Rice Ball coated with Pistachio and Matcha
🥭 Deep-Fried Musang King Durian Spring Roll

Overall, I enjoyed the meal. The seafood was fresh, the dishes weren't overly heavy, and there was a good mix of flavours throughout. A nice option if you are looking to gather the family or celebrate over a seafood feast.
