Winter, seen through a cinematic lens ❄️

Inspired by the music video for Tequila by Dan + Shay, Joshua Chong (.occulus) explored the contrast between Finland's snowy landscapes and the warmth found in its quieter moments. From falling snow to cosy shelters and shared experiences, he wanted to capture the feeling of slowing down and embracing the season.

"Honestly this is such a versatile lens and is my go-to when I intend to travel light and carry one lens. The Z5II manages ISO compensation fairly well so I don’t have to worry about the aperture limitations of the Z 24-200mm [lens].

What matters is portability and range. When time is tight and you're chasing daylight, it's important to have such a tool to compress the layers."

Bird photography is about more than filling the frame with a bird. 🐦

The best images often come from patience, observation, and timing. Rather than photographing a bird that's perched, look for moments that tell a story. A splash of water, a mid-flight landing, or a feeding behaviour. Small actions can transform an ordinary image into one full of life.

Nikon School Day Out at Pulau Ubin is a hands-on nature photography experience designed to help you capture the beauty of wildlife and the outdoors, responsibly and respectfully.

In this session, you'll learn:

🦜 How to spot and photograph birds and wildlife in their natural environment
📷 The basics of macro photography and nature photography
🌿 Composition techniques for capturing textures, shapes and details in nature💡 How to make the most of natural light and tell a story through your images
🎯 Hands-on shooting with guidance and simple critiques to refine your technique

Meet the creator who ditched the external monitor. 📷

Joel Chew (Joelcaptures) used to pack a monitor, HDMI cables, and spare batteries for every shoot. Not anymore.

For his workflow, the Nikon ZR's built-in 4-inch display does the job — paired with professional monitoring tools like waveform, focus peaking, and multi-colour zebras, giving him the confidence he needs on set without adding weight to his rig.

For 61 years, Singapore has grown into the home we know today. Every July and August, the island slowly transforms as red and white flags appear across our neighbourhoods, reminding us that National Day is just around the corner. 🇸🇬

For Tan Hui Shan (Art of Shan ), it's one of the most meaningful times of the year to head out with a camera and witness the moments that only happen once a year: the state flag flying overhead, the thunderous 21 Gun Salute echoing across the Kallang Basin, and the anticipation that fills the city.

This year, with the celebrations taking on a new format, it also became an opportunity to explore fresh vantage points and see familiar traditions from a different perspective.

Photography has always been a way to document Singapore as it evolves. Every National Day adds another chapter to that story, and we're honoured to celebrate the moments that make this place home.

Capturing Singapore, one moment at a time 🇸🇬

Now on his third visit to Singapore, Cameron Hanks () is continually inspired by the city's warmth and diversity. Each neighbourhood, from vibrant Chinatown to the whimsical pastel-pink platforms of Redhill MRT station, offers its own distinct character. Even after three trips, he feels there's still so much left to discover through the lens.

"I’ve owned the Zf since launch day and it’s still one of my favorite cameras to use, it’s extremely capable and looks fantastic. It makes me want to pick it up and use it.

The 24-70 f/2.8 II [lens], I purchased at the beginning of 2026, it’s been absolutely fantastic to use and am still baffled by how light it is paired with the image quality. It pairs beautifully with Zf and is very versatile."

We handed Joel Chew () the NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S and asked him to shoot with nothing else for 24 hours.

The result? Every frame captured not just the subject, but the world around it. Immersive, environmental, cinematic.

As Joel describes it, "This lens encouraged me to embrace immersive environmental storytelling, where every frame captured not just the subject, but the world around it.

And when daylight faded, the bright f/1.8 aperture continued to deliver incredible sharpness and cinematic bokeh, making low-light shooting a breeze!"
