Skoda Singapore recently tossed me the keys to the new Octavia RS in Race Blue for the weekend…
Up front is the Gen 4 EA888 2.0 TSI, pushing 265hp and 370Nm through a 7-speed DSG. 0–100km/h arrives in 6.5s, but the best part is it doesn’t feel like a “numbers car”. The progressive steering and sports-tuned suspension make it genuinely keen to turn in, and a blast on B-roads. The ride is surprisingly comfortable too — though you’ll still feel a bit of stiffness when cruising normally.
The VAQ e-LSD helps it put power down in a clean, refined way, the RS Suedia sports seats are properly comfy, and the 13” infotainment with wireless CarPlay/Android Auto brings the whole cabin up to date.
When it’s time to switch back to daily duty, put DCC into Comfort and it settles right down. You still get the practical wins: a 600L boot, tons of usable space, and the kind of car you can do errands, runs, or a weekend road trip in without thinking twice.
