SSPDF Maj. Gen. Wol Maduong Scores 68.3% in 2025 Secondary School Examinations

Maj. Gen. Wol Dhel Thiep, popularly known as Wol Maduong, is among the students whose 2025 Secondary School Examination results have been released.

The senior SSPDF officer scored 68.3% in the Science section. Maj. Gen. Wol is one of the SPLA liberators who fought for South Sudan's independence and continues to serve in the South Sudan People's Defence Forces (SSPDF).

Empowering Youth Through Sports for Peace

The final match of , currently being played at the Manute Bol Basketball Court in Turalei, brought together sports lovers, community leaders, and youth in a vibrant celebration of talent, unity, and peace through basketball.

The exciting showdown between and was attended by Twic County Commissioner Hon. Mangok Kom Nyuol, the wife of the late NBA legend Manute Bol Madam Ayak Aguok, Turalei Payam Administrator Nyuol Majok Aguek, Twic SPLM Secretary Mawien Piok, County Director of Youth, Sports and Culture Daniel Makuoc Majok, alongside other officials and enthusiastic community members who turned up in large numbers to cheer on the young athletes.

The tournament reflects Marol Achueiโ€™s commitment to giving back to the community by empowering youth through sports, promoting peace, teamwork, discipline, and unity among young people in Twic County.

The Sudan Peopleโ€™s Liberation Army (SPLA), the military wing of the Sudan Peopleโ€™s Liberation Movement (SPLM), fought numerous battles against the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) during the Second Sudanese Civil War (1983โ€“2005). Below is a list of key battles, towns captured, SPLA commanders involved, and the years these events took place.

1. Battle of Kurmuk (1989)

Town Captured: Kurmuk (Blue Nile State)
SPLA Commander: Commander Kuol Deim Kuol
Year: 1989 (initially captured in 1989, later recaptured by SAF in 1992, then retaken by SPLA in 1997)

2. Capture of Torit (1989)

Town Captured: Torit (Eastern Equatoria)
SPLA Commander: Lt. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit
Year: 1989 (briefly held before SAF recaptured it)

3. Battle of Bor (1991)
