The AngakueiYouthAssociation (AYA) in Juba warmly invites members of the public, friends, relatives, and well-wishers to a special Thanksgiving Prayer and Community Support Gathering in honour of Mr. Joseph Yen Magot Yen following his release after spending twenty-two (22) years in prison in Uganda.

Joseph Yen Magot’s story is one of sacrifice, resilience, and survival through one of the darkest periods in the history of South Sudan. Arrested during the conflict years surrounding the South Sudan–Uganda border insecurity in 2003, Joseph spent more than two decades behind bars before finally regaining his freedom on 15th December 2025.

While many celebrated his release, the reality remains that Joseph returns home to a completely changed world. After 22 years away from family, community, and normal life, he now faces the difficult journey of rehabilitation, healing, and reintegration into society.

This Thanksgiving Prayer is therefore not only a moment of gratitude to God for preserving his life, but also a collective community appeal to stand with him as he begins rebuilding his future with dignity, hope, and stability.
