Haar Wieu and his team were sworn in on September 5th to begin their 60-day caretaker mandate, paving the way for student elections in early November 2026.

The caretaker leader of South Sudanese Students Association in Rwanda has set three key goals, including fostering unity, reviving the association, and rebuilding the broken trust between Rwandan law enforcement agencies and the students.

Haar Wieu Awany will take over the leadership for a 60-day caretaker period from the former Interim President, Deng Philip Biar, who recently completed his studies in Rwanda.

This world is becoming too toxic for us because we are busy h@ting and fighting each other! Iโ€™m a proud pick me woman. I no do again! We are all fighting from a place of pain, Iโ€™m fighting because I was angry at my dad! But I just realized that there a million and one Good and kind men out there! My husband is one of them! He is a good man!

Heโ€™s not perfect, has his flaws just like myself, However Heโ€™s a kind man! And the Taxi man that carried us yesterday Is a good man too, My uncle Ifeanyi is a Good man!
My foster father Mr Arthur Iloh is a good man.. my Best friend Barrister Onuora is a good man! Honorable chima obieze is a good man, my elder brother is a good man and most important My God father Daddy Joshua! And so many of Them!

When I almost d!ed in 2018 as I was about to write my Waec because appendicitis ruptured in my stomach it was men that saved me, Rev Fr Franklin Eze the principal of St. Paulโ€™s college Eke, he paid for the Hospital bills, Still paid for my Waec!
The Doctor that operated on me , The MD of unity hospital Ngwo was a man, He Was kind, spoke to us calmly, (I mean my mom and I) He was considerate and Humanly, He even waved some bills for us when I was crying that my biological father was called to come and he told us he was on his way but never showed up till today, I was so angry, but there was a man that stood by us! Mr Arthur He carried a grown woman like me on his Back in the middle of the night cos I couldnโ€™t walk! He was there at the hospital till we were discharged, then took us Home. While I was angry at men because my own father didnโ€™t show up when I was sick and dying I forgot there were so many men who were there for me too..

This is a call to my fellow women! Evil has no gender! Letโ€™s not fight men! Letโ€™s stand together and fight against bad people, all the bad things you think men has done to you women has done it too! Women has been found guilty of murder, kidnapping, R**e as well, robbery, Child Trafficking and Abuse, yesterday a woman stabbed her husband to death while he was sleeping! Itโ€™s bad people we ought to fight! Itโ€™s corruption we need to fight! Itโ€™s bad leaders! Insecurity! Hunger! E.t.c not ourselves! If you wipe every man in the world what happens to our sons? Brothers and the good fathers! Uncles, e.t.c!

In a historic milestone for South Sudanese education, Abeny Ajok Garang Ajok, a 2022 graduate of Promised Land Secondary School, has become the first-ever Ashinaga Scholar from South Sudan.

Ajok is set to travel to Japan to pursue a degree in Cybersecurity, marking a major personal achievement and a breakthrough moment for educational opportunities in the country.

This opportunity follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed last year in Washington, D.C., between Promised Land Secondary School Director Sir Jok Abraham Thon Jok and Ashinaga U.S.A.

Through this agreement, Promised Land Secondary School was designated as an official pipeline institution, designed to connect high-achieving and vulnerable South Sudanese youth with fully funded higher education opportunities in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

The Ashinaga program supports talented young scholars who face financial or social hurdles, providing them with full university funding and leadership development to help them return and drive positive change in their home countries.

School administrators expressed deep gratitude to the Ashinaga team for their commitment to nurturing the next generation of African leaders, highlighting Ajokโ€™s achievement as an inspiring example for students across the nation.

Ayak Kueth Monyluak, a third-year Mass Media student at Mount Kigali University, is making significant strides as both a student leader and an emerging media entrepreneur in Rwanda.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Monyluak serves as the President of the South Sudanese Students Association at Mount Kigali University. Beyond her administrative role, she is the founder and host of The Open Floor with Kayaโ€”a podcast and media platform designed to provide youth and diverse demographics an unvarnished space to address critical contemporary issues.

For nearly a year, Ayak Kueth Monyluak has cultivated the platform through organic interviews, personal narratives, and candid discussions. The initiative operates on a direct premise: fostering authentic, unscripted dialogue where sensitive topics can be explored constructively.

While the project remains in its growth phase, Monyluakโ€™s objective extends beyond content volume. Her long-term vision focuses on establishing The Open Floor with Kaya as an influential institution that amplifies underrepresented perspectives, engages young audiences, and drives meaningful public discourse across the region.

Her work continues to reflect a blend of student leadership, creative direction, and civic commitmentโ€”positioning her as a rising media voice to watch in East Africa.
