Something to prove

Just watched the new live action trailer and had to go back and pull these out for today!

Haven't featured Storm Arena Ken in a while, but this felt like the right time. Looks like they're giving him a big redemption arc, and I'm all for it. Sounds like there's a lot of mixed feelings for this Street Fighter movie, but growing up with games got me loving the campy vibes from the trailer all the more!

Ken Master's portrayal in particular is looking good - confident, a little reckless, but when he locks in, it’s a wrap! I'm looking forward to seeing them do his flame effects since they gave a tease of Ryu's hadoken in the trailer. For my photos here wanted to give it an overall warm fire lit feeling to match Ken's move set.

Doomsday is near

Bringing this one back from last year! This was before all the recent MCU Doomsday hype started picking up again, so felt like bringing it back one more time. Robert Downey Jr's Doom up top on the Wakandan throne, Cap barely holding it together, Thor down, Hulk out, and everyone else just trying to survive what’s left.

This was one of those setups that took a while to get right. Wanted to pack a lot into this frame and get that interior lighting well enough to pass off as Doom's castle frame without making everything look messy. Hope marvel studios gives us a spectacle with all our favorite marvel heroes again, as well as villain!

Family Matters

Been a very long while since I took any photos of the mafex The Boys action figures, but finally caught up with season 5 last night and finished this one up!

This was actually based on how I originally thought the Homelander and Soldier Boy reunion was going to go about (I hope I didnt step into spoiler territory!). Homelander is pushed to a desperate position by Butcher and the others, and turns to his Dad for help. Turned out a little bit different but still wanted to make use of the custom sculpt I got for the new mafex Homelander version so stuck with the more grim feel!

Gotta remember to work with them more often now, especially this being the last season out on prime videos!

One Shot Galactus

Got my hands on the new marvel legends Ghost Rider last night and had to take a quick photo right away! Loved the classic Marvel Comics design and thought the best way to get it into action would be his feat of taking down Galactus!

I remember watching the episode way back in the Fantastic Four animated series. Galactus was just being his unstoppable self and Marvel's first family couldn't do anything about it. Then out of nowhere Ghost Rider just comes along, busts out a penance stare, and knocks Galactus out like it was nothing! Had to be one of the most one sided battles I've every seen happen in the marvel universe!

The new legends Rider really stands out from it's predecessors. The skull headsculpt look really great as well and the body really fits well into the suit design. I do wish we were able to open and close his mouth like in the previous Ghost Rider action figures but it's more stationary on this one. The bike is super cool though!!

WAHOO!

Had to take a break from the usual and jump into something a little more fun—Mario inspired by all the hype around the new movie!

My daughter got these two fun sets of mini Mario figures and Princess Peach’s palace from before the Super Mario Bros. Galaxy movie came out. Since I don't have my own figures to photograph she happily let me borrow hers, which turns out not as easy as it looks to use! These don’t have much articulation at all, so getting any kind of motion out of them was a challenge.

That jumping Mario shot especially took way longer than expected. It was a lot of small adjustments and working angles to fake that sense of movement and a jump. Even had to tweak the eyes a bit to get the expression to land right.

Tried to keep it bright and playful to match the world—Peach’s castle, the colors, all of it. Definitely a different pace from what I'm used to, but worth it seeing her have so much fun watching her toys get a full setup!

Back in black

Quick look at the custom painted marvel legends Daredevil from ! I unfortunately haven't been able to start watching the latest episodes from marvel television but planning to this weekend!

Super excited to see the black suit in action and finally getting to see that DD logo is definitely a treat. The only thing I need right now is a properly scaled and proportioned MCU Kingpin. The older marvel legends just doesnt hold up now with the new Punisher and Daredevil figures. Also need Bullseye immediately!!

Fall

A little adaptation from Spiderverse history—straight out of The Amazing Spider-Man 121. Green Goblin throws Gwen Stacy off the George Washington Bridge… and Peter Parker fails to save the day. The web catches her but the stop in that split second proves to be fatal.

Ever since I saw the movie version do the scene beautifully, wanted to try a comic variation. Placed the mezco Green Goblin up top near the camera lens, out of focus but still watching. Custom Spidey down below, too late and just clinging to Gwen. Threw in the fatal web hanging ominously above him.

The Peter Parker sculpt really helps push the emotion I wanted for this moment. A little different from the sad broken down Spiderman versions we've seen, with a bit more anger and vengeance.

Fueled by Ego

Another round of DragonBall on the new terrain diorama! While Vegeta tosses Moro away like nothing in this scene, he really took a beating in real life during setup!

The original photo was slightly different, with Moro and Vegeta fighting head to head, and I had Moro balancing his full weight on Vegeta's hand. During on of the adjustments the wrist peg on that arm finally gave up and snapped. Managed to make a stopgap fix but had to change the scene a little and ended up with this one. Not my best, so hope to redo this in time and give Ultra Ego Vegeta the battle he deserves!

Probably need to pair up Ultra instinct Goku alongside the prince next time. Oh and you can also get a better glimpse of the diorama on the last BTS slide!

Sticky situation

Quick throwback to a Spidey post from last year featuring the marvel rivals Peter Parker sculpt from ! Poor Goblin was the latest Spiderman villain to suffer the fate of me enjoying wrapping figures up in the practical web effects. Although he does seem like he's enjoying it here...

Definitely going to be trying this sculpt on the mafex scarlet Spider suit, and hope to gather some more marvel rivals designs as well! Since this photo was taken I also finally got my hands on the mezco green goblin so the marvel legends one can get some rest.

The only major marvel comics villain for Spiderman I'm still missing happens to be electro, if anyone knows a spot to find him do let me know!

Experiment 626 has broken in!

Should've known something like this would happen if I let Stitch into the house. The detolf locks proved to be no match for this little blue Disney alien!

A little while back my daughter saw me watching showcase this Hot Toys Collectibles stitch and she absolutely loved it. Pretty sure she provided half the views for that reel! came in with the save and I was able to get this in for her as a belated birthday gift!

From the live action Disney Lilo & Stitch, this 1:1 scale adaptation is now the most realistic figure in the house, and it's not even mine! Stitch's articulation is surprisingly so good, had so much fun getting him into a ton of movie poses. Everything from the ears to the mouth can be positioned.

The hardest part of these photos was convincing my little girl to let me borrow him for a few minutes to rush these in!

Batman: The Animated Series — “Uninvited Guest”

Somewhere deep beneath Wayne Manor… the Batcave isn’t supposed to have visitors. Security systems tripped, backup protocols bypassed—and there’s a surprisingly bright purple suit standing out against all the blacks and blues!

Finally got the animated series Batman and Joker together for a shot. My inner child went a little wild thinking of setups, but kept this first one simple. Joker being just way too pleased with himself, while Batman’s already halfway through a utility belt save!

The Mezco Batman definitely needed a few upgrades, but Joker? He’s good right out of the box. The expressions, the accessories… he basically comes ready to cause problems. Safe to say this won’t be the last time these two keep each other entertained!

GEAR 4!

Finally completed my first every One Piece photo! I really regret being so late to working on a photo for this legendary anime and manga, and absolutely had to feature Monkey D. Luffy ever since I got my hands on the VAH Gear 4 figure!

My One Piece collection is slowly taking shape, and hoping we get the other variations of Luffy's Gear 4 as well! This photo took a pretty long time in both setup and post, getting them to all balance at the right angles to fit and then edit out all the stands. The big gear 4 bound man needed it's own large heavy stand to stay up and getting that out of the shot took the longest. You can probably catch a glimpse of all that in the BTS on the last slide!

Looking forward to more amazing characters from Eiichiro Oda's masterpiece, including shirtless Zoro, Boa Hancock, Robin and more! Gotta get everything single NBA Luffy as well!
