Pinisi, like the term “junk,” which refers to the traditional sailing rigs of vessels in China/Hong Kong, also refers only to the rig of these hand-built wooden schooners. The art of building these ships has received UNESCO recognition.

It was so fun to return to these docks after six years—little has changed. 🇮🇩

Meet the senior monk of this temple and the district elder, at a site now transformed into a temporary war relief and refugee camp. This is one of more than 150 camps across the northern provinces (400 families in this one) here in Siem Reap. Though over 100km from the border, refugees are still building bunkers: “They can still reach us by plane.”

Documenting on behalf of who donated fundamental relief packages. I witnessed firsthand that in this political land dispute there are no winners — only victims. At its peak in December 2025, more than one million people (400 000 Thai) were forced from their homes. 🇰🇭
