The invited guest of honour, President Uganda National Traders Alliance Katongole Godfrey who was accompanied by local leaders in Mbarara city, including Mayor Kachebezi Robert, Deputy RCC Jackline and town clerk have today morning actively involved in the launching of tree planting initiative in Mbarara city.
The launch event on the streets of Mbarara city, where Mbarara City Traders Association(MBACITA) initiated this drive, involved local leaders, community members, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and business associations representatives.
This initiative aimes to green Mbarara city fostering asence of shared responsibility for the environment and future generations.
Speaking at the launch, President Uganda National Traders Alliance emphasized the importance of corporate responsibility in environmental conservation;
*"We believe that environmental sustainability goes hand in hand. Through this tree plantation campaign, we aim not only to green Mbarara city or western region at large but to inspire a sense of shared responsibility and hope for the future.*
"Tree plantation initiated is part of Uganda National Traders Alliance responsibility strategy focusing on community development, and we are committing to submit one thousand trees (10000) to be planted in Mbarara city. Katongole Godfrey said.
According to Mayor Mbarara city Kachebezi Robert, planting trees is crucial for environmental health and human well-being, offering numerous benefits from air purification to climate change mitigation. They provide oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide, prevent soil erosion, and support diverse wildlife habitats. Also, play a role in regulating the water cycle and can improve human mental health.
