HALLELUJAH! 🙏
He stood up and walked across the graduation stage when many wondered if he would ever walk again.
Now, 21-year-old Rudy Garza is facing another battle.
A month ago, I shared Rudy’s incredible story after he survived the terrorist attack in Austin, where he was shot in the head. Despite the odds, he earned his mechanical engineering degree from UT and became the first person in his Hispanic family to graduate from college.
Today, his mom shared an update with Ryan Wolf.
The surgery was successful. Thank God!
Rudy recently underwent major brain surgery, including a right cranioplasty with a PEEK implant and repair of a cerebrospinal fluid leak. He remains in the ICU and is being closely monitored. His family says he experienced seizures after surgery, but they remain hopeful and encouraged by his progress.
The road ahead includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, seizure management, pain management, imaging, and follow-up care.
Rudy has already overcome so much. He refused to let a bullet define his future, and he continues to fight with incredible determination.
Please keep Rudy and his family in your prayers. If you’d like to support his recovery, here’s the fundraiser:
