Universe,
One of the reasons I became a photographer, was because of another photographer….
I lived on the maternal fetal floor before our child arrived very prematurely. My Husband and I missed out on a lot of fun baby things. There was no time to plan, life just happens that way sometimes. Don’t feel sad for us, we received the most amazing blessing out of the ordeal.
The kindest show of support, was our photographer coming to the hospital to take my maternity pictures. I desperately needed some normalacy with all the doom and gloom of hospital life. Two days before our child arrived, Alexis said,”let’s do it,” and we took maternity pictures at the hospital. She unbelievably drove three hours to do the session. Thank you Wesley Chapel for the amazing backdrop….
Alexis not only made me feel beautiful, but she gave me back the empowerment that I had forgotten. All through her photos.
And her kindness.
There’s a point to this story, I promise…
I strategically made my photography business public, so I could donate maternity and newborn sessions to families like mine. The cat is out of the bag. Finally.
I’ve been quietly donating sessions already, but with our child’s Birthday coming up, I decided to make the news public. There’s no better way to celebrate than paying it forward.
I don’t need a gold star, or recognition for this. We should all be like Alexis and pick each other up.
So if you know of a Mother who is stuck in a hospital somewhere, or didn’t receive newborn photos because they lived in the NICU, please have her reach out to me.
I’m happy to drive to show up in a hospital with my camera. Every Mom deserves these moments.
That’s my why. 📸
Share away.
