And here are some more:

Saying you're not photogenic? I've never believed that, not once. Don't think you know how to pose? That's literally my job. Nervous it'll feel awkward? It usually does for about five minutes, and then we're just having a good time together.

Honestly though, I say this with so much love because I hear these things all the time and I just want you to know that none of them are actually a problem.

My whole goal is that you show up as yourself and leave with photos that actually feel like you. Relaxed, real, and genuinely beautiful. No stiff smiles, no forced anything.

You just have to show up. I've got the rest. Which one of these hit a little close to home? Drop it in the comments - no judgment, I promise. 😄

📣 I LOVE a good mini session.

My dahlia minis last week were a blast, and we're so lucky to have these gorgeous blooms all through September! 🌸

But minis aren't for everyone, and that's okay!

If you're hoping for the full experience, a mini probably isn't for you. If your little one takes awhile to warm up, a mini may not be the best fit (although I'm pretty good with the wild ones!). And if you want a huge gallery for all those Senior Sunday posts, you're definitely going to want a full session.

Here's who my minis ARE perfect for:

✨ Families I've photographed for years whose kids are comfortable with me, and you just want a few updated photos this year. We'll do the full experience again next year!

✨ Families who already had a spring or summer session but want a few fall photos for Christmas cards. Or because your kid hit a growth spurt and seriously doesn't even look like the same kid anymore!

✨ Couples...They're always perfect for couples.

✨ Seniors who just want a few updated photos and a yearbook photo.

✨ Seniors who are only here because Mom made them. (I'm looking at you, senior guys! 😂)

✨ Seniors who are planning a full session in the spring but need a yearbook photo for a fall deadline.

Today's model team spotlight is Mady I instantly knew Mady would be a great fit for the team. She told me she wanted multiple sessions throughout her senior year, and that's what the model team is all about! She's so fun to work with, and I've loved both our sessions so far.

One of the things I love most about this job is getting to watch people grow up. And maybe I'm getting old, but it really does seem like the growing up is happening a whole lot faster than it used to.

My husband used to work with Reagan's mom, and I photographed their family at their home. In my head, that was a couple of years ago. When I went looking for those pictures to include in this post, I realized it was nine years ago. NINE. How is that even possible?!

And that's one of the things I love about photography. I get to freeze these little pieces of life, and sometimes I don't realize just how much time has passed until I look back.

I'm probably a little extra emotional about this because my own son left for his second year of college today. So maybe I'm just feeling all the feels. I'm tearing up a little even writing this. 😭

So mamas, hug your babies. Because they won't be babies for long.

And seniors, hug your mamas. Because just yesterday you were their baby, and before you know it, you'll be heading off into the next chapter of your life.

I'm not crying. You're crying. ❤️

STEAL THESE: 3 senior poses that work every single time. 📌 (swipe so you can screenshot each one 👉)

Most seniors freeze the second the camera goes up (totally normal). So here's your cheat sheet, zero memorizing required:

🚶‍♀️ The slow walk. Walk toward me at half speed, eyes down then up, arms swinging natural. Movement is what makes a photo feel alive instead of frozen.

🧱 The easy lean. Find a wall, a tree, or a railing and lean in, one ankle crossed. Instantly reads relaxed instead of stiff.

👀 The look away. Glance off to the side like something caught your eye. That effortless, candid feel every single time.

Little shifts make a HUGE difference. The second your body has something to do, the awkwardness just disappears.

This year, we've got a guy on the team! 🙌

And because I couldn't resist 👀 swipe to the last slide for a little throwback to when Ian was really little!

I've been photographing Ian and his family since I started my business, and they've been so amazing to work with and be around all these years. I’ve loved getting to watch him grow up, and I can't believe it’s already time for him to start his senior year.

When his mom reached out about the Senior Model Team, I was so excited to welcome him. One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is getting to know my clients over the years, and senior year is such a fun one to be part of.

I love that the Senior Team gives me the chance to work with my seniors more than once and create a whole variety of images that feel like them. Plus, as a mom of 4 boys, it just feels a little more like home to have a senior guy around.

Brook has been such a fun part of my senior model team, and I’m so glad I get to photograph her throughout her senior year. 🤍

We first met at my spring floral event for my Class of 2026 model team, and I had a feeling we were going to have a lot of fun together. Three sessions later, I can confirm I was right.

So far we’ve done florals, the beach, and Baskett Slough, and I’m already looking forward to what’s next.

My senior model team gets to be the face of JWP throughout their senior year, with some students even joining early enough to participate in the spring of their junior year.

Each model gets a custom session of their own, plus invitations to at least three model team sessions throughout the year. Basically, lots of variety, lots of photos, and plenty of content for those Senior Sunday posts. 😍

My favorite part is that they get an entire year of experiences instead of just one senior session.

If you've followed my page for any time at all, you probably know that one of my FAVORITE things is working with my senior model team. They're the face of my business for the year, and I LOVE getting to work with them throughout their senior year. All of my Class of '27 team members have now had their individual sessions, and we just had our first group session (so fun!), so I thought it would be a good time to introduce the team. Over the next couple weeks, I'll be sharing a little about each team member.

Let's start with Shannon! We had her session at Mary's Peak right before my first backpacking trip ever, and since she's a backpacker, she was able to ease some of my nerves and give me some tips. Her session was so much fun and I'm excited for the next.
