“This is where I want my life to lead me.”

There is something about this place that feels deeper than a destination. When I look at it, I don't simply see where I want to live at the end of my life. I see the life I want to have lived, the peace I want to have made room for, the freedom I want to have protected, the love I want to have known, and the woman I want to be when I finally arrive there.

I don't know what the road between here and there will hold. There will be things I cannot control, people I cannot change, losses I cannot prevent, and choices I will have to make along the way. But when I look at this place, I see a life that feels like home, and I know, with everything I have learned, lost, survived, and found again, this is where I want my life to lead me.

I cannot know what will remain of me in the hearts of others. Perhaps it will be a story. A laugh. A hard truth. A kindness offered on an ordinary day. Maybe it will be the memory of someone who did not ask them to be anything other than who they were.
